Is there a position in the eutopia that you foresee, that we might actually be worse off as a "club"?
What if the owner/s get bored of their project and we are stuck in some non league set up waiting for the dream to happen again, as much as some do not like the stadium it can sustain league status, we as fans always want as much as we can, same as business men I suppose.

We can not sustain anything with the likes of Tiger, DE or IL putting a couple of million in each and every year. Anyone can get bored at any time and we'd be screwed. We have no real assets beyond a few of our playing squad and no strength in depth to survive selling off what we have. So staying as we are is not an option.

Unfortunately it’s the only option at the moment, while people are willing to spend their money to keep the club afloat paying a minimal £300k rent than 10’s of millions for a pipe dream.

You've clearly not read a thing I've posted - I give up!!

Ive read your posts and questioned your views, reality of today is better than the pipe dream you are trying to portray.
When there is something tangible to look forward too then it might be different, we are struggling to pay the HMRC so a shiny new stadium is hard for me to visualise.

There is an agreed price on the stadium that is chump change to some of our new board members. If they wanted the current stadium, they would buy it. They won’t because they want a new development with lots of extra things around it.

They have zero interest in ever buying the Kassam Stadium.

100% agree.

Investors: hello Oxford City council, we would like to build a large retail development with restaurants etc to further expand our already massive wealth.
OCC: Er no! We need all the land we can get for housing.
End.

Or

Investors: hello Oxford City council, we would like to build a large retail development with restaurants etc to help that football team that so many of your citizens seem to like. Oh and obviously we would make a fair bit too.
But you’d also be able to let Kassam build loads of houses on the existing site so helping you meet that new home target.
OCC: We’re listening.

;-)

Out of interest, how rare would it be for Oxford to have had three permanent home grounds, were we to leave the Kassam for a new ground?

Should imagine the vast majority of clubs have been based at one or two permanent grounds over history, but that’s purely guesswork on my part.

Bristol rovers
Played at Eastville
Played at Twerton Park
And the Memorial ground.
They’ve been trying to move to build a new ground UWE stadium for ages, but it’s not come to fruition

In terms of three ‘permanent’ homes as opposed to any temporary stopgap arrangements it would certainly be one of the first. I’m not sure you could count instances such as Rotherham, Brighton etc as they had very unappealing and temporary situations between stadiums. Even Rovers have a history of being shunted around and having to make do rather than playing in their own purpose built grounds.

However, it’s going to become increasingly common in the years ahead as a lot of the ‘new build’ stadiums built since the eighties and even nineties are fast becoming unsuitable for the demands of modern football facilities. Scunthorpe are already talking about moving on again and their current ground is only 25 years old or thereabouts. When a lot of stadiums were built it was simply about having a better quality of structure in which to play matches, but commercial and leisure demands attached to the game have moved at such a rapid pace that a few of the stadiums built over the last 25/30 years are already outdated. Or at the very least, don’t possess enough ‘extras’ to support the ambition that many clubs now have.

So at the moment, three stadiums is very, very rare. But I’d anticipate that in the next decade a good handful will start to appear.

Yes the Gas immediately came to mind for me. I’ve been to one of the grounds in the late nineties/early 2000s for a very hot game in August (although cant recall what the ground was called!)

Returning to the original theme it does occur that little has been made of Thohir’s future financial input and any involvement by the other billionaire as it would alert selling clubs and agents in the window and so inflate fees. Just a guess. But maybe..if true..a sensible plan.

Charlton have been at The Valley, Selhurst Park,Upton Park and back to The Valley.

Scunthorpe will be moving to a new ground, so they will definitely be 3.

Remember Brighton playing home games at Gillingham a few years back. So thats 4 for them.

There must be one hell of a good, profitable deal about to happen.
Why else would these mega rich characters be involving themselves with a 3rd tier club?
