Anindya Bakrie

Yeah football is dead. Bring on the five year spell at 17th in the Premier League before it all goes tits up.

Then we can all enter footballing retirement, enjoying a swift pint of mild in Dagenham before watching us draw 0-0 in a Conference relegation scrap.
It does beat drawing 0-0 in the 1st round of the FA Cup though doesn't it? Hmmm

OxVox update this evening puts cold water somewhat on any new billionaires on the board. Y’all with have to make do with just one I’m afraid.

Personally, and it is only my own personal opinion, I don't think Tiger (a billionaire businessman), is going to show his cards just because OxVox have asked him for clarification. I can't see why Thoir and Anindya (can we call him Andy from now on?) would just sit on the board, there's got to me or in it than that (or more in it for them).

OxVox may be right but I'm just wondering why a billionaire with an interest in sports clubs would come in just to advise and if he is just an advisor would he need to join the board? I'm just speculating but I think OxVox have been shut down until Tiger's ready to give the truth out. (btw I've got nothing against OxVox - just my reading of the situation)

Perhaps. A minor point but Tiger isn’t a billionaire himself though. As far as we’re aware!

Ah my mistake, in that case it's even more probable he's got Erick on board for some other plans and is telling OxVox what he has to tell them to keep things quiet. Scenario: a MILLIONAIRE owner (apologies, counted the zero's wrong) invites a BILLIONAIRE to join the board for advice, not money. In the words of Kevin Mccallister "I don't think so"

The problem is, until they tell us what their plans are, speculation is naturally going to be rife. I think it would really help if Tiger gathered his new board members together at the club, in front of the media and fans, so they could tell us all exactly WHY they’re here, what they’re bringing to the club, what their roles are, and what we can all expect going forward. Then, hopefully, we could all get really excited. I know us fans don’t have a given right to know everything, but SOMETHING’S going on, so it would be nice to be in on the gist of it ?

Having read some reports from Thailand, it appear that Anindya is just a friend/work acquaintence of Erick, so not part of the club’s board....well at the moment that is.

Am I the only one who feels a bit uneasy about the whole money men coming in?

I'm not sure I fancy a bankrolled trip up through the leagues.
Yeah me neither. I mean it would be crap if they came in. Brought the stadium from Kassam or even built us a new, better one. Also buying loads of quality players who win loads of games and get us into the premiership.... boring!
We’d have to drive all the way to Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle, wait, no scrub the last one. Anyway we’d be on the TV all the time, which would mean fans will stay at home. But what would be really bad is that Reading and especially Swindon would be looking up at us thinking I wish we were as big as Oxford!

Why does anyone think it’ll be different if we buy a new ground. We’ll still not own it and have to pay rent without being able to use the funds!! Out of the frying pan and into the fire!

People moan now there is no loyalty with some of our players when they move on, get used to it if we started to pay a load of players well over the odds who couldn't give one hoot about playing for the club only to leave or refuse to play until they got their move.

Get into the premier league? Great for 1 season but I certainly wouldn't fancy becoming the next West Brom, Stoke City or Southampton where it is a case of just happy taking part and making up the numbers or a league!

As for TV games, just look at the comments on here when one of our games gets moved due to being on TV.

I can see why some fans will get excited but I certainly don't feel guilty for enjoying the fact I support a lower league team with a modest fan base and modest aspirations. I for one can't get excited for over priced players playing for the club I love, over priced match tickets, over the top policing and going to games surrounded by tourists and people who have never even heard of Mike Ford let alone James Constable!

The most preferable and realistic scenario is we wrestle Grenoble Road off of FK - money talks - and then hope the new owners are very different types of characters. Good owners are out there, we just have to hope we’re lucky enough to have owners of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s ilk.

Blimey, this is a first uptheus..I agree with you!

Some fans seem to think if we move to another stadium the club will automatically own it. This will be far from the case, Tiger, Thoir or AN Other will have to pay for it and it will be on their terms. If they ever sold the club we could quite easily end up back in the exact same position we do now.

Must be Hailey’s Comet!!

Er because of a my.ber of reasons
It may be a much better stadium
Club officials may be able to get into the ground before 12 on a marchday
The players may be able to train on the pitch
The club may have control of the ground. So better condition, feel like home (yellow concourse pictures of legends)
Club have an incentive to really make the most of the retail outlets before/ after the game
Or do you think that Everything about the ground is fine and it is all about ownership of the ground?

Totally agree.
We really still don't really know what Tiger's long term plans are.
Oxvox seem to equally in the dark (if not then they haven't told their members)
Some clarity of vision would help.

What a strange situation. Each week or so its a new board member or rumor of one. As yellowbow says we simply have no idea of their plans or what all of these people are doing here. Is anyone here to put in the money, and sort the stadium? In the meantime the on field situation still remain precarious, and we hear of unpaid tax bills. By the time all of this is sorted out just what state will the club be in?

Without a bit of clarity, a fair bit of investment, and with KR's player recruitment I am concerned about the now critical Jan transfer window. To be honest league survival is now all that I think the club should be concentrating on, all the rest is just an on-going distraction and a bunch of fantasy so far.
