As long as he owns the area where the stadium is built and the surroundings and there is a crippling lack of housing then his cash cow will never dry up, more's the pity.

Which is why I don’t understand why he would pay US to leave. Surely get 7mill over the next 7 years...in that time price of land/property increases.

Has this issue been covered by the likes of sky sports news?

Kassam sounded quite rattled on Radio Oxford this morning. I do wonder if someone from Firoka picks up the phone to FK to tell him about the bad press, or whether Radio Oxford contacts him to offer a right of reply?

I worry ST and NM have scored a massive (and costly) own goal in terms of their relationship with FK.

I hate what FK has done to our club, but can also fully understand his stance with regard to his non-paying tenants.

I cannot remember hearing it, but someone on Twitter saying he offered "£1M to walk-away". Which considering we are tied into a tenancy agreement with 7 years remaining sounds very fair. (Money owed plus one year?)

I suspect that would be Kassams preferred option, as that 17 acres of land could easily achieve £25M with planning permission. This is clearly far more than the price he could ever hope to achieve selling the stadium tied to an ACV.

/QUOTE]

Why would they care about their relationship with Kassam? The stadium situation has crippled the club for a generation and despite everyone saying publicly that they want to work with FK for the good of our club, we still find ourselves paying a huge amount for a crappy stadium that fans and players hate.

The toilets have been disgusting for years. Seats broken and dirty. The Priory left to rot. Yet FK has still wanted his rent paid in full and gets in a sulk if anyone dates question him.

I hope that this all shows Tiger that Kassam is not worth dealing with and he continues to get on board people with hard cash who can build us a new home that puts an end to the relationship once and for all.

Is the problem with all this though not that, as frustrating and unfair as we/the owner of OUFC finds it, if the contract between the StadCo and the football club dictates the payment of certain charges, and those charges are outlined in that contract, the club is obliged to pay them? Eales objecting to the club paying for things it doesn’t use, as was suggested earlier, is understandable, but if the club is contractually obliged to pay them there’s not much that can be done. The principles of contract law in this country are pretty clear: the courts will void a contract if one of the parties has been dishonest or made a misrepresentation, for example, but it’s not the court’s responsibility to step in to save a party from a bad deal. That seems to be what’s happened here. Perhaps the club are trying to argue the former, hence the arbitration?

I too deal with contracts on a day to day basis and one thing you always need from a good contract is clarity. Goods and services to be supplied, when, how and rights etc.

No on on here knows the full terms of our tenancy agreement with FK and certainly not any of the points that are up for arbitration. Perhaps the points DE was pointing out weren’t actually outlined in the original deal so therefore OUFC has no grounds to pay them. Maybe Firoka interpreted it otherwise? In a bizarre twist of fate, maybe Merry’s awful deal actually has FK kicking himself over extra things he could have charged the club for.

Unless either side disclose the full terms, I’m not sure any of us will know what the ‘arbitration’ relates to. All we do know is that Oxford either pay £300,000 in rent or £1m! I don’t think either fee is true personally.

Oxvox have seen the stadium licence, and told me it is a disaster for us.

And NM signed that deal hoping to be the saviour and be hailed as the main man when in truth his business acumen is crap and we are now paying for it 12 years on.

The stadium deal which is a 25 year lease runs out in7-8 years I believe therefore was signed in 2001ish by 1 Kassam company(Stadco) and another (Oufc) so set up to make him money and undoubtedly he knew he wouldn’t own the club in 2026ish so was set up in a way he would make most money in the event of a sale. The sockless wonder was clearly operating on Lenagan behalf but might have just bought something already in place.

Then NM failed miserably in his negotiations and the purchase should never have gone through until they had sorted the stadium out.

I think at the time they said they didn’t have enough time to get both done with the transfer deadline looming that year although I suspect both were never going to happen at that point soKa££am could make more money and hoped we would go under and leave him with all that land. Hopefully he gets part of his wish with us leaving eventually for a better finished 21st century ground.

Why should we care about our relationship with Kassam? Because we have too, as he holds all the cards and in the short term we have no choice but to keep a working relationship with him.

Yes, the stadium is filthy and in dire need of a remedial work, but as the club stopped paying the service charge 3 years ago, why would anyone expect Firoka to continue to honour their side of the contract? I can fully understand why Firoka have taken the stance they have. The club (Darryl Eales) should have continued to honour the payments, whilst going to arbitration.

I'm amazed Tiger has managed to get concessions into the stadium for December, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Tiger's public comments have now thrown this arrangement into doubt. It also sounds very concerning that the shirt sponsorship deal could be in jeopardy if Singha cannot get their beer on sale within the ground.

We all know how FK works, annoying him will only ever end badly.

Surely NM must have signed a contract otherwise we could dangle Kassam by the goolies and have him brought to court on breach of something.

That last point is so key.

Through a series of bad decisions and circumstance, Firoz holds every single card.

He cant lose, and thats an incredibly strong position to be in.

Were going to have to work with him unfortunately.

And licking the slum landlords a**e gets results does it? I don't think so....he exited sharpish as chairman /owner after real strength and depth of feeling was literally demonstrated by OUFC fans.... we are told to not let BULLIES win, and to stand up to them...appeasing bullies including the tax exile get you nowhere, standing up to the greedy bastard en mass however may be the better option ?

Does anybody know if Kassam has actually set a price for the stadium? What it would need for him to relinquish control? With all these so-called big hitters coming on board, I still think taking control of, and redeveloping Grenoble Road, would be the best option, even knocking it down and rebuilding.

Well, at least focusing on the transfer window brought in enough decent players to help us avoid the drop..........er.......

And the reason is because FK did not carry out his landlord duties, he’s responsible for the pitch and DE had to lay 2 out of his own pocket, he refused to allow a temporary 4th stand and when he did allow it he wanted a percentage.
He’s a f*****g leach and we need to have a good legal brief look into everything that Kassam is responsible for and check to see if he has carried out his duties as a landlord, and even get the OCC to take him to task over his failure in keeping the Priory in the condition it should be.

We might have to work with him but as @Sarge has said, we don't need to pretend that he's Mother bloody Teresa!!! The stadium has been a dump since day dot so the idea that he has suddenly been wrong by us not paying the service charge is a joke!

As for not annoying him, what can he possibly do that would leave us worse off than we currently are? I think this is only the start and can see more mud getting thrown, and I hope plenty sticks to our shitbag custodian!!!

No stupidly probably bought the club and existing deal in with that otherwise we would be 12 years into whatever deal they agreed.
