League Cup 2022/23 Carabao Cup R2 draw

Can't see that anyone's mentioned Tranmere v Newcastle, wouldn't be surprised if that was a TV pick.

Either way hopefully we get a good crowd and a great upset.

Still a bit disappointed it's not away for selfish reasons! But I will still be looking at attending if possible

Ta!

You’d think I would have remembered that Windass freekick - an absolute peach.

For some reason, every time I think of Boxing Day games I immediately think of when we beat Bournemouth 2-0 in 1995.

Possibly because it was in a promotion season but also because I seem to recall that it was a snowy pitch before being cleared before kick-off, which made it stand out a little more.

Which I'd say is an argument against us being chosen.

Smallest David, biggest Goliath is the TV wet dream.
What they said but as others have pointed out the Northern section has the most attractive ties and Sky will likely fancy a Gerrard and Lampard wankfest or newly promoted Stockport over us.

Be sensible with pricing and sell the place out be stupid with pricing and people won't pay especially with two home league games before it
Agree. If we charge £10-12 then it could even sell out but with 3 home games in 7 days, anything above £15 and there will be a few empty seats. I still think it will be a great crowd but it would be nice to have a full house especially with a cup game that we weren't even expected to progress to.

Should price it the same as the Swansea game. £15 an adult and £5 concessions. Anything higher and people might decide not to go.

I think people who are expecting us to be on TV are overestimating how much of a draw Crystal Palace are!

They're an exciting draw for us, because they're a proper club, well established in the PL and we haven't played them in a quarter century.

But for a neutral and/or international viewer (which is the audience they're trying to get here)? Nowhere near as attractive as Villa, Newcastle or Everton.

Plus, I think the most romantic tale they can try to weave and sell this round is probably Stockport vs. Leicester. Ancient club that fell on hard times and spent more than a decade out of the league (including, what, seven years in the 6th tier?). Now back where they belong, and playing against a big Premier League club.

If I was an unbiased Sky marketing bod, that's the game I'd choose.

Also, as an aside, I see that Ben Hinchcliffe is Stockport's keeper? You could tell a proper rise and fall and rise again story about him too. We were just one of his intermediate stops on the path from Premier League to non-league obscurity (and his six games for the club included two of our very darkest hours - away to Barrow & Histon!), but now he's fought his way back into the league......

Would not surprie me if palace sold out their allocation. We need to match that. I have vague memories of them doing us over on and off the pitch way back in the days of the thin blue line in the LR. IE the seventies!
I don't think so??

Bolton v Aston Villa and Tranmere v Newcastle picked for TV

Not at all surprised.

The Northern section had the better Prem Clubs.

We just need to give a good account of ourselves, and see where that takes us.

Hopefully a big crowd!

Steep. Don't think the commercial team have got this one right. Missed opportunity to go big on a price promotion and sell the place out.

Not offering even a small discount for ST holders on cup game is also infuriating because such an easy thing to make people feel appreciated with minimal impact on the bottom line. No other industry but football would miss tricks like this

Yes I was expecting a slight discount being a season ticket holder. The fact I can move from the east stand and go and sit in the south stand upper or lower with no extra cost is strange too.

It's also off the back-end of two home games as it is. I still think we'll get a very good crowd but charging league prices with 3 home games in 7 days is a bit much - £15 tops would have been ideal. If we get through, that will be another expense a couple of weeks after that.

Unless you sit in the premium seats £2 extra

Perhaps the club could have rewarded the fans who turned up against Swansea and then charged the ones who are only interested because it's a premier League team the prices above (.not aimed at you btw) just think sometimes the club shoot themselves in the foot

Also depends what Palace would agree to.
