Yes. That and Bakrie said a year ago that he wants promotion in 2 years.
Far too much weight is given to that statement.

In November 2021, Bakrie was asked about promotion and he said "if we can make it in this 2 years to go up the league, that will be ideal."

It's not the be all or end all scenario that some are using to suggest that this could be Robinson's last season. The board are clearly ambitious and success on the pitch is just as important as success off it with the stadium. But Robinson is very much part of the plan for the next few years and he has been trusted to bring in the players he wants on long term contracts. As @WEYellow has said, it will take a disastrous season to make the board act before the summer.

Even with the expectation of Champonship football, after potentially spending a great deal of money this window? These people are millionaires, so are no mugs when it comes to wanting/getting success.
I would imagine they take the same line with kr as they do with any manager that works for them when it comes to targets.
Ordinarily, I’d completely agree with you. However it’s my view that the owners are very, VERY aware that getting PP for Stratford Brake isn’t just dependent on council votes. It’s also dependent on being perceived as the ‘right’ sort of owners by the people that count. I.e. Owners that add value to the prestige of the city by demonstrating measured, incremental progress that benefits the community, the supporters and the team. The money spent so far makes us competitive, it’s not gonna buy us the title. I would still say that unless Karl gets this season wrapped round his B*****s then he’ll be here this time next year. When or if Stratford Brake gets the green light then I suspect the on-field expectations will become the focus. Hopefully we’ll be in the Championship by then anyway.

The next 2 years also aligns nicely with KR’s contract. I think given his service to the club and how well he’s done, assuming there is no major meltdown at board level or our performances on the pitch, it all seems to fit together rather nicely to give him those 2 years to make it happen with a team he has assembled with virtually no limits. If he can’t, then perhaps we re-evaluate and go in a different direction. By then the stadium will be well underway… or not, in which case there will be far greater concerns than who’s coaching the team.

It surely depends on exactly what happens- he wouldn’t automatically be sacked if we lost on penalties at Wembley, but might be vulnerable if we were 15th at Christmas and looking poor.

His words, as reported by the Oxford Mail in an interview about the new stadium were "If we can go up in these two years that would be ideal", so more of a wish than a demand I'd say.
And anyone with even a moderate of understanding of business speak would know what that means.

Of course, finishing bottom half or toying with the bottom few during the season will be disastrous and Robinson won't get a free ride if that happens. I think playoffs are the minimum expected from the board and us.

I can accept missing out on play offs if we have some major nights/afternoons in the FA Cup & League Cup and finish between 7th and 10th. Think that’s pretty reasonable.

That’s what annoyed me last year. We binned off all 3 cup competitions only to finish 7 points off Wycombe in the top 6.

Last year was unacceptable following the backing of keeping Brannagan/Kane & Sykes late in the January window from the board.

There’s absolutely no way that the contract will be run down. Neither party would want that. It happened to Wilder and it was the beginning of the end.

He’ll be given a new contract, be sacked or engineer a move to get himself more security but it certainly won’t just run its course.

When do we think this Joseph chap will/could/ may be announced then..had his medical today was it??

This one?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59125592

At around 2:30 he talks about the improvements made in the last two seasons and rounds it off saying “I think in a couple of seasons, the sooner the better, we would love to go up the playing field, in the league”.

At around 8mins, Jerome asks him specifically about his target “on the pitch” and he answers “I think if we can make it between this two years to go up the league that would be ideal because we have the stadium up until 2026 so we have few years to get there, but when you get there only then it starts to make sense you have your own stadium, get the fan base, get the community, so I think, you know, on the pitch is very crucial to make sure that while we are designing, getting the approvals, having this ambition to go eco friendly and sustainable, this one has to happen”.

Obviously with English not being his first language, there is a danger in taking that last comment at face value given that he was suitably vague in his previous dialogue and a good lawyer might argue that he was actually referring to 2026 as the end date for when things "had to happen".

So I don’t think he has publicly stated that KR has “two years or else” but I can see it might be taken that way - I daresay we will find out in a year or so.....

I couldn't careless about cup competitions, the position & needs of the club mean currently they are great for playing kids in, that's it.

The league and only the league should be what Robinson is judged on.
Play offs or above is the minimum that an ambitious & well backing board should accept.
I'm sure KR is a great bloke and that is a lovely cherry on top off but if he can't build a balanced squad (with enough defenders 🤯) it will ultimately mean nothing.

Back to Kyle Joseph he looks equally strong off his right and left side and knows where the goal is, has pace and strength too.

Ultimately, it will be a decision for the Government because even if the Council resolves to grant planning permission, the application would need to be referred as a matter of planning procedure to Greg Clark (if still in post then) as Green Belt development and a departure from the statutory development plan. One for the stadium thread I think😄

KR needs to find a way of grabbing points off the likes of morecambe, Accrington and Cheltenham away from home. Do that, it's second tier here We come....

The sheff wed and Ipswich type games look after themselves a bit. It's a case of quality vs quality, and even last season we had enough of it. We are all well aware of what we didn't have....

Someone tell me that Joseph is big, strong and mobile who will lead the line.... Please....

Jerome went on the record at the back end of last season and said that the board would be far from happy about missing out on the playoffs, and that if the same were to happen this season they would be even unhappier still. If top six is missed this season then Robinson is going to have to go some to explain his way out of it. Especially given the increased budget and the level of spending sanctioned.

That’s exactly what he brings to the table

Thanks for your insight on this. There's a lot said on here that doesn't ring true but I do appreciate your view from the inside.
