Robbo won't be going anywhere soon unless it goes disastrously wrong this season, I'm talking relegation scrap. The club is in good hands, he's a stable manager for us and we have a solid foundation to now push on, for the first time in a lot of our fanbase's lifetime.

Let's enjoy the season and get rid of this negativity that some fans love to cling on to and further their agenda against the manager. Hopefully Karl Robinson can manage Oxford United in the Championship very soon!
Well said Karl

If we go toe-to-toe with the likes of Ipswich, Wednesday and Derby, and fall short to the three of them for example, then I don't think we can be too disappointed. Those are quality teams, and all will be spending as much if not more on wages. You've also got MK, Peterborough, Bolton and Portsmouth who will feel like they should be making the playoffs. I'd expect our best finish under Robinson, and if he fails to deliver that then yes, serious questions will be asked, but I certainly don't feel we are entitled to promotion based on the money we've been throwing around, or that KR should get the sack if we come third, fourth or fifth and miss out again.

We've had to spend big just to keep in contention. To put it in perspective, Brannagan's costing us double what he was last season and we certainly won't be getting double the productivity. Findlay has replaced McNally, Bate has replaced Kane, and Murphy looks like the only bonafide upgrade, though we'd be delighted to get the double-digit assists out of him that the man he's replacing (Whyte) got for us last year. The other signings, Baldock, and Wildschut, won't be fully fit for a while (we won't see the latter until the new year). If Browne can stay fit, that will be huge for us, and the depth and options players like Joseph and potentially Thomas-Asante will offer will hopefully make all the difference. With that said, we'll need luck we haven't had thus far regarding injuries. It's a long season, and there's a lot of quality in our league. I'm excited about our chance to challenge, but there are four or five other teams who will feel the same.

I think we can see what's being built, and this isn't a one-year punt, the players we're bringing in are on two-year-plus deals. Unless we fall short of the playoffs, I'd be really surprised if KR wasn't here next season.

All very fair points.

It was just a question of whether the board's expectations have risen due to the summer expenditure and what that means for the manager's position if we aren't able to kick on from last season. Do they stick by him if we go close or will they be more ruthless now the stakes are higher?

Don't really see that as negativity in any way tbh.
It's just repetitious!

Haha, very pro Karl messaging from me there. But he’d be a brave man to look at this forum at times.

What I do know from being in his company during covid is that he’s a great bloke and cares so much about this club and the community. I get that he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and he has his limitations tactically as a manager, but you only need to see how he’s conducted himself during the Joey tragedy to see what a good man he is.

I really hope he’s here for a long time and takes us on a great ride, I think anyone who is pro Oxford United can agree with that

I'm full of admiration for him. I think the club is in good hands at the moment but know everything relies on the new stadium complex getting approved.

Absolutely, I think @RyanioBirdio has alluded to it previously, but a lot does ride on the stadium and there would be a lot of uncertainty surrounding the club if it didn’t go ahead. However we have a board with a vision and not just to line their pockets, positive steps in the last few months and the outlook regarding the stadium is the brightest it’s ever been

Listening to KR‘s interview before the game last night he could barely contain his excitement about Golding as a RB. What are the thoughts of the people who went last night? Does he solve our RB problems?
Err NO!

You were in his covid bubble? Welcome to the forum Mrs Karl.

Bit like XGoT stats and half the forum slating a young man for how many long range shots he conceded. Failing to recognise his illness, his challenger has done the same, his potential, the fact Premier League clubs have been after him, his strengths vs a GK who is at the end of his career etc and the fundamental part of conceding goals is a group effort and responsibility, not an individual one in isolation.

I am livid he's being pushed out, far more than I have been with other players. I saw him last night, five minutes after the final whistle, face like thunder and off to his car. If we send him out on loan, the whole episode becomes even more bizarre.

As for Ed McGinty, other than his erratic first half, his footwork and confidence on the ball is what we should want. I hope he quickly becomes the league keeper and Eastwood can return to sitting on the bench.
Who are you referring to?
