Here’s the thing I don’t quite get

We have Taylor as our no1 striker
KR as had said by others is “creaming his pants at the thought of another striker coming in”
Looks like we are signing Joseph and Swansea will want him to get game time
Baldock should be back by xmas
Genuine question
If we only play one up front what is the point of getting Joseph ?
Swansea will not be happy to see him as a bench warmer/even make the bench

Because I think we're looking to play two upfront, or even drop Taylor into a no.10 type support role.

Games come thick and fast, despite winning one week, the same strikers may not be fit to play the following Tuesday, you need to rotate your striking options. Joseph will get plenty of game time. Not to mention they all have different attributes and suit different tactics depending on the opposition etc. Joseph will get more game time here than Wednesday and I think that's what would have swayed him.

Taylor won't be playing as much this season as he has been - which is a ludicrous amount. People forget that he is nearly 33 and strikers of that age need support around them.

And, as for Baldock, although he showed last season he can be very good at this level, he can't possibly be relied upon as anything more than a luxury player that is good to have when he's fit. Won't be his last injury of the season I'm sure.

I was sat behind the goal and in the 2nd half he picked a couple of very nice touchline passes near the half way line. They were hit reasonably flat, similar to the Cambridge keeper on Saturday, rather than Eastwood style of floating the ball. He also has an obviously big boot if needed. Hopefully the result and penalty save will help him settle and next time he'll be just a little more composed.

I have a 'thing' about the Goalkeepers at present.

Despite the erratic opening 40 minutes, McGinty really got his head back in the game at the interval. His post match interview was really interesting and having been told a few things at H/T, he has to be applauded for his character and reaction.

We - I believe, need a keeper who is the modern day style keeper, plays out from the back, good with his feet, throwing, etc. I thought he did well, second half some great distribution to the front men, good use of ball with his feet to Findlay and Moore and a lovely catch and quick short throw out to Brown to set up another transition. He is deceptively big and in his penalties was like a caged feral cat.

He caught a lot too (note several mis-placed attempted catches that sailed over the keeper in games at Derby and Cambridge). He has already done enough for me to look a better prospect at a ball playing modern day keeper than others.

I only know of the guy through the Tim Russon method that he gets mentioned in some highlights on TV. So therefore I thoroughly recommend him. :)
If the internet and this forum was around in the Tim Russon/Central South days, everyone here would have been buzzing with the Jon Narbett signing 🤣 tbf I think I actually was at the time!

Imagining how Tim Russon would have announced the signing.

Something pun-tastic like “No ifs, Narbetts, he’s a fanstastic signing” I should imagine.

He looked great on Central South, unfortunately in person he showed he wasn't a footballer. :(

We all know how gorgeous Tim Russon was on TV, but not sure why you expected him to be a decent footballer too?

H
...or in the 80s "Who the fxxk is 'John Aldridge'? If we want to compete at the next level we shouldn't be buying players from someone like Newport County"
Hmmm...Aldo was a pretty prolific scorer at Newport already ( including at least a couple against us ) so not sure that analogy works ....now Dean Saunders ..a reject from a lower division club for £60,000 now that would have led to a forum meltdown!

Option of 2 upfront?
