I think I remember @UTO (apologies if not) saying we were looking into something but he wanted too much. It wasn't him pictured either.
We did make contact with him before pre season started. His wage demands were ridiculous. He was on a big wage at Wednesday.
He went on trial at Reading. And he turned down their offer apparently. He’s not worth the money he’s after.

He wouldn’t have been pictured training with us. As he never came to us at all

Apparently Chelsea haven't handed squad numbers to a few decent players (Billy Gilmour, Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi). I imagine they will probably go to Championship, but if we are serious about promotion, it would be worth enquiring after their availability. They all could do a job in league one.
Unfortunately there is no chance we could sign any of them due to their wages

Ha, yes I expect Ross Barkley could probably do a job in league one.

Yes, lets go and get Belgium starting striker Michy Batshuayi.

Just had this thought, having lost a very close friend at the weekend down under, pondering life.
This is not aimed at any poster at all or any post.
We comment on how suitable a player is, how good they are, what great goals, saves, tackles they make. We also consider the negative side to these points, for example relating to specific players at the moment.
I really think we need to consider these players will read these boards. Being that most of these players are still young in life terms, and are our players, they will take things personally, which could affect their play even further.
Lets therefore consider how we phrase things on the board when discussing the players.

For whatever we think of them they are Oxford United players after all.

Ryan hardie, on a take it or leave it offer then?. Would be surprised but anyone in the last year of their contract is available. Would he be interested though?

Well said Mellow Yellow
I lost my nephew recently in tragic circumstances
Sometimes we all get wound up about things going on OUFC related and have a pop at other posters and more importantly players
Every player is trying their best, some times they have bad days, we all have bad days but some Criticism on here is unwarranted.
If Sam Long reads these posts what do you think he’s feeling, he knows he hasn’t had the best game but come on let’s encourage him

He looked like the focal point of their attack to me. I don’t think Findlay will have many tougher games all season and to be fair he coped really well. Smith was a class - or two - above Collins the previous week. He looks the complete striker at L1 level.

Except his finishing was lousy. He really should have done much better with the chance first half when Long miss his header, but then he miskicked it tamely. And then there was one second half that he controlled brilliantly, cut inside and then ballooned harmlessly over the bar.

Smith had by far his best season ever as a pro last year, and scored 15 league goals (played all 46 games). I think that's what he is - a good target man, but a 1 in 3 kind of guy.

Agree.
There seems to be a need to make scapegoats, and there always seem to be one or two players who bear the brunt from some of the players on here.

Think it's Plymouth who decide if they will accept our offer not the player himself.

That's of course true, but we also know that players (and agents) have a lot of say in these matters. Having said that, I would have been more hopeful had Hardie not played yesterday following a case of O'Dowda Flu!

Man U seem to be messing around with Frenkie de Jong as well. If we got in there and offered to pay the £14m Barca owe him we could probably steal in there. We're told the board are plenty wealthy but I bet we don't even try.
