Reduction in number of away fans.

Noticed this in minutes of OUSP latest meeting:-

For 22-23 league matches the North stand segregation line is changing following discussions involving the Club, the police, the SAG and SGSA. This will reduce the capacity for away fans, and will make it possible to manage the home and away sections in a similar way, hopefully further mitigating and reducing any potential issues.
Traffic management to continue.

The worlds gone mad.
We had several full capacity away crowds last season.
Apart from the odd spark , I can’t recall any major confrontations, inside or outside the ground.

Surely with a stadium restricted by how many fans you can have inside because it's missing a stand the last thing you go and do is reduce the capacity more .... strange decision going on at our club at the moment

Maybe to cut stewarding costs?

Is this about ensuring it’s possible to run a line of stewards each side of the seg rather than just against one set of fans; our own?

Put the away fans out in the car park for all I care, it’s far too comfortable for them as it is.

what a load of s**t - Im wondering what drugs are SAG & SGSA taking, & where are they getting them from? because they're evidently not functioning in reality

We have the f*****g 'Berlin Wall ' outside the North Stand for Cat A games, there's already a ridiculously wide segregation area imposed... what is the thinking behind the latest imposed for no logical reason, reduction of away fan capacity- & reduction of potential income from ticket sales- ? we've already sold Luke McNally, will it now be two players a season sold to make up the shortfall in income?

f*****g ridiculous

The ground is bad enough as it is without further restrictions, what’s the capacity going to drop to now in a supposed 12,500 (was meant to be 15,000) stadium?

Would be better off moving the away fans to the east stand at this rate, at least we will be able to have full capacity crowds occasionally rather than looking at blue seats and black whatever it is lined by stewards, even big games seem tinpot with the set up.

Sooner we move to the new ground the better, the current one works to the detriment of everyone but Kassam.

Question what can we do to improve the atmosphere at the Kassam. I know we will reduce the amount of away fans. You couldn't make it up I'm really wondering what the hell is going on at the club lately.

This decision was not the club's. It was the SAG, as has been mentioned in the OUSP Minutes.

Surely the sensible thing to do, if the intention is to provide stewards on both sides of the segregation, would be to remove two or three seats, from the top to the bottom of the stand, in the centre of the segregation block. That way we'd actually be able to get more fans in (home or away, I'd prefer home) while having stewards either side?

I suspect a certain stadium owner won't allow it!

Have always considered this a viable option. Save a lot on stewards and only a marginal reduction in a home attendance
Plus watching PL games gaps are so so smaller

I was told by the previous head of security that the police etc can only advise, give their opinion.

The final decision on this always came down to the head of security who is employed by OUFC.

If this is not the case I'm guessing the previous rules have been changed in the last few seasons?

Meanwhile at european level club games pyros n smoke bombs are fine apparantly.....brexit means brexit eh?

Who foots the bill for sniffer dogs?
Technically banned in most countries but common sense prevails because they recognise the fans and ultras scenes are essential to the success of football in those countries.

Go one step further and pyrotechnics fully legalised in Norway providing it's noted in advance with details etc. They've even developed cold flares purely for the football scene, you can light it and hold your hand in the "flame".

All this despite the usual "idiot fans" at every club, hooliganism far worse in Europe than the UK but they don't tarnish football fans by the actions of minorities etc.

The club can't overrule the SAG and other H&S people involved. They can, I think, argue their case but ultimately wouldn't be granted a licence if they went rogue.

It's a bloody stupid decision, borne out of a stupid set of circumstances, and a stupid stadium situation.

I think I might have got out of bed the wrong side this morning, as all I seem to have done all day is go off on one about things!
