I'm cautiously excited for this. Probably more on the cautious side than excited.
The good - Sam Baldock is a classy player. His movement and that instant partnership with Taylor really looked to be going places before he got injured, and his signing ultimately reveals we'll be going two up top next season. That'll be exciting. It's also a thrill having two front men who support the club too. Just imagine if Swindon do come up and we can release superfans Baldock and Taylor at them
.
The not-so-good - He's 33 now and it's a two year deal so probably Baldock's last contract of any note or length. With his injury record, I do have a niggling doubt that we've released Sam Winnall and replaced him with a player of a very similar profile, ie a player whose ability is worthy of the division above but with an injury record that drags them down a division (that said, Baldock achieved more in two and a half months than Winnall did in two years). I would like to see a younger player join us to carry the load because I can't see Baldock making 35+ league appearances like Taylor does.
If it works, it could be a very fruitful partnership.
