As if that matters on YF, where a clear preference for instant judgment based on zero evidence or, at best, Football Manager 2014, is consistently displayed when evaluating players.

FM 2021 doesn’t seem to rate him ;)

They rate him the same as Nico Jones, Napa & Lopes

He must go to youth games then unless he's judging him on a one minute appearance in the League Cup!

The signing is a weird one for me, he seems to have come with a bit of his own fanbase. He is also avoiding National Service. It's an intriguing one.

National service bit has been explained in this thread already.

The Fulham mate probably has gone to youth games if he's willing to provide a reference for the player. It has been known to happen that people attend those types of games.

I think it's an easy enough risk to pay a pittance for a youth footballer with Thai connections. Means that any profile of our owners in the far east will include that they're providing opportunities for young Thai internationals where they can. Doesn't cost much and it's good PR.

Overall not much of a risk to take whether this lad ends up being first team material or not. No idea why it's being probed so heavily by some on here.

Wasn't there some rumours Son at Spurs got called up for National Service a few seasons ago? I actually quite like the idea of national service but it is likely much more hard work in Korea or Singapore than it would be if we introduced it here.

I imagine we'll get to see him in the Pizza Trophy games.

Davis has a Thai mother and English father. He lived in Singapore between the ages of 5 and 16, and whilst a citizen it us not his nationality. He moved to England to pursue a footballing career and has been given that chance by Fulham and now Oxford. He did not refuse national service but asked if this could be deferred whilst he establishes himself in the game. As this request was refused he has committed his future to the country of his birth and said that he wouldn't return to Singapore. I'm not sure I blame him.

It's a bit low to use this as a way of knocking a young player that we know nothing about. He may be another Osei-Yaw, he may be sensational, but why not give the kid a chance?
That’s not how things work on here lol

Was a lot of talk about Goodrham going to Banbury after he impressed in the game in preseason.

Would have hoped the pair would have gone higher with Ox City known fans of Elechi.

Elechi has gone to a club in the same league as Oxford City hasn’t he?

Meant as in he was on loan with Ox City prior to Covid.

That way he could have continued his development with us at the same time as the young players have done in the past.

Pretty standard to send the young lads out on loan at this stage, would imagine one or two more in the next couple of days.
Both also at a decent level, tho guess it depends on what clubs need what positions filled.

Yep, only way to guarantee regular competitive football. They really need to do something to make u21s/reserve football competitive again to make a league worthwhile.

From what young Tyler has shown so far in an OUFC shirt I'd expect him to make a real impact at H&Y, looks arguably our most convincing young talent since Shandon broke through. Get some good minutes in men's football to learn, then come back and challenge for a spot in the first team.

Good level for Elechi too, still think he has enough about him to make it with us one day. Hopefully he will be good enough to be backup next season when we inevitably don't sign cover for Seddon 😂

True, though isn't that the justification used by the PL for B teams in the Football League?

I did check on their website regarding Elechi, and they lost a LB to Eastleigh earlier today.

At that semi-pro level, players can pretty much move where they like with enough notice given. Makes sense to reach out for short-term youth loans to cover the gaps.
