I was thinking about our position today in relation to this time last year and Im actually not too concerned this evening. We are obviously looking for the right players and although they might need a month or two to settle, as long as they have kept fit - happy days.

Also...

The squad we have are in a better position. Most notably, Stevens in goal, Long and his unbelievable improvement, Brannigan who has recovered from his illness, A new left back in Seddon who has strong reports, a full pre season for Winnall - among others.

McGuane is back, but on a permanent deal! He’s also had another whole pre-season with the club! So far, for me, McGuane and Seddon are the most exciting signings!

That won't happen.
For almost all clubs that won't happen.
We have a good first team already in my view and a pretty good bench.
So no excuse for not getting a decent start but of the 3 to 4 other players coming in, they do not need to be in by the first game
When are the new players meant to get used to team mates, gel? It happens every year, with the resulting slump.
Everyone has an opinion on it. Does a management team on building project, feel they can afford to wait to bring in their best craftsmen to complete a job, knowing they have enough staff to start the job adequately, albeit not necessarily achieving the best results?

To me it's simple, lots of noise comes from the club post season, about wanting to have a big push next season for promotion, then we sell players like it's going out of fashion, stevens next? We then find ourselves not complete to start the new season, rather than be ready to run for the line, we're treading water again for the first few weeks. It's ok saying we have a good starting 11, but kr stated he wants two wingers. Now to me that indicates he wants to play a certain way, and these players are key to his plans. So in his mind, he doesn't necessarily have his starting 11. We can think what we want.
If the board were backing him would these things not be in place? Too much hype comes from the club, too much bluster, then it goes quiet, leaving fans baffled and ill informed for too long.

We don’t need 4 or 5 players before the first game.
People are saying we have a good starting 11, maybe we do in their eyes. kr picks the first 11, and he has, on numerous occasions said he wants 2 wingers, which indicates the first 11 we are playing, the so called stated good first 11, isn't therefore what kr wants as the first 11, but with these 2 wingers instead.
When would you suggest then would be a good time to bring inn the 4/5 players kr said we need, Christmas?

Interesting to note that Kenny dougall and Dan ballard joined blackpool in oct last year whilst simms arrived in jan 21. Probably their best 3 players in the play offs

Reckon we'll see 2 or 3 players in before the season starts if that helps settles your nerves?

I appreciate your point re Del Boy, but in terms of making an impact for the first team in the league, I would say that he was a flop. I think KR wanted him to come in and at least play a part, but he was sent out on loan and didn’t play a great deal for Walsall, either.

I know he’s one for the future and I agree, he does have great potential. Will he be able to realise that potential at a club like Oxford, on the trajectory that we currently are? If he’s struggling for minutes, will he be able to force his way into a team that’s chasing promotion? Let’s see..
Didn’t work out at Walsall maybe send him to the conference or even oxford city for 6 months see how he does and then again to league 2 in January (if he does well) before . Some players just need a apprenticeship etc. Or he just may not be good enough

I think we’ve gone at about the right pace to be honest, I think if Stevens goes that potentially throws a spanner in the works as our spine looks strong and I wouldn’t trust Eastwood in goal as our number one, but if he doesn’t, I think we could wait a few weeks into the season for a flashy winger or two.

Last seasons we started with a quickly failing experiment at RB and a goalkeeper already completely shot of any ounce of confidence he once possessed so we leaked goals like a Swindon single mum leaks 6 fingered kids

Hakeeb Adelakun has signed for Lincoln. Sure we'd have been in for him as we were about 12 months ago.
Adelakun played for Scunny for many years, could well be that his family is settled in the area so Lincoln a nice easy commute. Also he really hasn't played much in the last 3 seasons looking at this, and he missed the end of Jan onwards through injury season just gone.

There's an NI winger from the Championship who I'd be way more excited about signing.

If you knew anything about Robinson's OUFC you'd realise what nonsense you're talking.

He's said he'll always name the same defence if he can. Midfield will be changed as necessary but as little as possible.

Front 3 picked according to job and subject to change.

Hull didn’t give him a glowing report either,

I think we all remembering him for that 1 performance for Scunthorpe when they ripped us to bits alongside Ivan Toney & Duane Holmes

Crikey every transfer window we read the same negativity, every manager wants to get business done early BUT so many things can and do happen to either delay or prevent getting business done.

The manager stated he was no longer prepared to sit around waiting for answers from players, on top of this some clubs are throwing money at it which for the long term of the game is very dangerous. So let's assume KR went for player A and is quoted 8-10k per week in wages it's not going to happen is it so give the bloke and club some breathing space and try to comprehend what's happening in our league right now.

He has also stated that we may just have to stagnate for a season or 2 before kicking on and this was before stupid money was being thrown around so why do some not get this and appear to be expecting miracles.

And the pasting we received at home against Rotherham two seasons ago. Adelakun, Vassell and Matt Crooks all superb that day and we couldn’t touch them until Marcus Browne came on for his second debut.

I myself have said we need 3 of a good level for play offs and 5 for automatics, that has not changed. KR has said something similar however I disagree with him on 2 LWs. I feel we need one and a striker. However, I believe if the first game was tomorrow, we would have a competitive team to put out. Is it ideal? No. Could it last the course of a season and have us up at the top? No. But would I feel confident in starting the season with it while we finish our recruitment properly? Absolutely. But it’s not a good enough squad yet because it isn’t finished. But that doesn’t mean get any old crap in the door.

We are in an OK position right now. Knee-jerk decisions at this point will land us a load of fodder that will offer precious little to the squad and we’ll struggle to shift them when better players come along.
