Sunderland, Ipswich and Portsmouth all apparently in for Clare as well as Charlton.

They’ll all be furious when they find out he isn’t good enough.
Tbh I'd take the assessment of one chippy Scouser over four tiny clubs. He must be right, surely?

Bizarre this Sean Clare story suddenly popping up. Not seen it from what I'd consider a reliable source yet. If we can recoup the fee we paid for him or, as it seems he was wanted by a few clubs and it's being stated as a "priority signing", maybe even make a tiny profit, I wouldn't be overly upset or concerned. We're well stacked in the midfield and I don't even think we need to necessarily replace him with LCP waiting in the wings.

If he stays I hope he does really well, but if he wants to go then I won't lose any sleep over this one.
If there are a few clubs in for Clare hope there is a bidding war.

*Sighs* This summer has been so unexciting, seeing what Clare could add was one of the more interesting parts of the start of the season for me. I think I've said before that if any club is willing to pay money for our players we have to listen, and if Clare's in demand then there would likely have been a bidding war, but all it's doing is following a path of relative blandness, and I'm not hyped at all for the new season.

Despite the signing of McGuane ages ago, we've had nothing to shout about so far. Williams and Bodin are solid signings, but they're hardly going to be ones that get you really excited for the season ahead. Add in Ruffels & Atkinson departing and no replacements brought in for them yet – plus a fanfare-free kit launch – and you get me feeling a sense of indifference about the start of the season.

Is that just me, or are other people feeling that too?

Seems a strange one all round considering he played 60mins on Friday night.
You'd have thought if a move was in the offering then he wouldn't have played. So has it all happened since Friday night?

Well now we’ve lost Clare the messiah we are doomed doomed I tell ya he played for us last season didn’t pull up trees got loaned to a struggling Burton and looked good a Burton team we score 9 goals against in two games as long as we replace him I’m not to bothered about him going for a fee

Burton picked up bags of points post January when JFH took over, with Clare in the core of their side. I would say they were probably in the top 10 teams in the division in the time Clare was there points wise? We scored 9 goals against them in two of the only games he couldn’t play in as he was on loan from us. Does this not surely point to the fact that him being in their side massively improved them? I think it would be a shame to lose an athletic versatile player from an already thin squad.

*Correction - They are 5th in the form table for the second half of the season picking up 4 more points than us, who didn’t have him.

If his time at Burton made him decide he doesn't want to be here anymore I'd rather he left for a fee than us keeping an unhappy player who could affect squad morale, or just put in no effort and still take a wage. Tbh none of the sources claiming he's going that I've seen have been reliable sources so could all just be bluster and he's going to be starting at Cambridge.

Clearly it isn’t simple.

It’s not me that publicises how prepared we are for every eventuality, is it?
Where did the club say that?
They have said that they have options for every position but things constantly change.

Absolutely. I think you've summed it up pretty well.

Don’t think that’s fair to assume. Robinson set the trap nicely in the summer when he basically went, “It’s up to him if he wants to fight for a place, if he doesn’t then he can go.” As soon as he said that multiple people seemed to begin questioning the player’s attitude. What if it’s not like that at all? What if they’ve actually just fallen out or don’t get on? That’s what happened with Cameron Norman - clash of personalities, off you pop. Why does it have to be Clare’s fault if he goes, and why would his departure signal a morale-sapping attitude or a lack of desire? Who is to say that Robinson isn’t just covering his own a**e in case a player he doesn’t get on with leaves, and ends up being a good player elsewhere?

Lots of assumptions.

I would think that if fit Bodin would be the most exciting signing. Far more exciting than Clare, Ruffles surely? An exciting winger who has proved himself at this level and scores goals as well.
Sure Atkinson was a very exciting CB.

Don't Burton have a player/Defender that Karl has long been a fan of? Possible swap maybe?

They released 12 players and have signed 10. In addition to the 12 or so that JFH signed in January and beyond.
I doubt there's anyone left there that would even be available as so new to the club.

You're not seeing the big picture, man. With the Clare money we will sign someone totally awesome. Maybe
