Forgive me isn’t this a Takeover Thread
Seems its more like a transfer thread
Probably a side effect of the transfer thread becoming the classic cars thread.

Any takeover talk shall now be equally split between the Brexit and Covid threads.

And the new stadium thread will now move to the word association thread for good measure.

We wont have that battle but i've asked this before so as someone who hears the odd thing or 2 i will ask you directly

When we loaned Brandon Barker was there any discussion regarding having Full Time? Have there been any ongoing discussions with said player?

if the answer is No and or we cannot afford him then what was the point when his parent or next club benefit and we end up back to square one

We keep hearing about wanting wingers yet the ideal one was in the building
Barker was a trick pony not a team player. I’m guessing the management saw it that way too.

That's your opinion but if true this wasn't noticed before we (cough) borrowed him?

The fella is absolute class, let's not forget he took a while to get up to match fitness then was out with an injury, now if we had him to work with the squad pre season we would be lethal as an attacking force.

We will have to agree to disagree. I can only comment as I saw it. He had his showboating moments but football ‘s a team game. Just look how Blackpool took us to the cleaners - twice.

and that was down to Barker? He was our only attacking threat in that first leg too! I agree he's a bit hit and miss but when he's on it he's unplayable at this level.

I agree - he never tracked back when he’d lost the ball, just shrugged his shoulders whilst watching the player run away from him.

I've been saying this for years, everybody is on cloud 9 during the season as they got to see some permiership neverwillbee but the hard facts are these players are never within our reach to sign permanently so the wheel just continues in it's circle.

Yes i know it's meant to be our model but it's conveniently forgotten that this policy so very nearly contributed to a relegation for 1/2 seasons and even though the squad is constantly broken up some fans still expect miracles and get on the Managers back the moment The Golden Rainbow has gone over the horizon.

Every team in League 1 relies on loans. Always have and always will. Likewise, we loan players to the likes of Oxford City and Woking for development. It's what the loan market was made for. We can reap the benefits for a short time with them. Some may sign on again, some may not.

I looked at the three sides promoted last year. Throughout the season, Hull had four loanees, Peterborough only had two, and Blackpool had seven. You can get promoted with them as Blackpool have shown.

A final point that risks derailing this thread further - I know you criticise the model we have here in that it hasn't taken us to the next step, but the season(s) where we struggled were because we deviated from it. Clotet's has-beens and no-hopers had no development potential or resale value and it took another season to recover from that. When it has worked has been when the conveyor belt keeps chugging out the next seven figure sale.

Anyway, anyone heard anything about this takeover recently ... ?

No it wasn’t down to Barker. I was just highlighting how much more effective a team of 11 players who all know what there roles and play with pace and high press can be. To say Barker is a “bit hit and miss” is an understatement. He may be “unplayable” for 5 mins a game but he fades out for the remaining 85. I don’t think on the odd cameos he produced that KR gave it moments thought that he was worth pursuing. Will be interesting to see where Rangers send him next.

No word from the board, Covid problems transfers out not in another s**t start to the season!

Exactly that, to be a winner you need desire, effort, something different, he didn’t do enough for me, he didn’t seem bothered and that isn’t acceptable
