Potential New Ground

Very nice.

Assume there will be glass floors in the supporters club so we can see the Thames below and watch discarded tampons float idley by.
I'm starting to smell a rat.

I still think the land between the BMW /Unipart site and our training facility would be good to develop.
That land is not used and I’m sure BMW would be open to offers and I’m sure as it’s so close to the factory the Council would not object
Either that or the Council could use the Horspath Road running track site as a Sports Complex

That land is probably big enough for a stadium only but I can't see the council allowing a 20k stadium there, roads aren't good enough to cope with extra demand.

Not at the moment but Unipart car park or BMW car park could be used plus I’m sure the Oxford Bus Depot would like better road access. Also as with the current stadium there could be rail access.

Sorry for just jumping here and not reading 137 pages. Presumably the takeover going through is a reflection of land/stadium factors? As much as I love the idea of a bunch of very rich people getting involved in a third tier club just because they’ve heard of the city, I assume this is all a property deal. If so, when you look at the wealth of those involved, that property deal would need to be substantial - perhaps similar to something like the Royal Elm Park development plans we’ve seen before? Otherwise, I don’t really understand what the point of all this is... It can’t be anything to do with the Kassam because the margins would be too limited/non-existent.

Yep, that’s pretty much it. Congratulations on saving yourself from reading 137 pages summed up in your one para!

Unfortunately it'll start the conversation again suggesting this can't be the case. 😞

So to sum this lengthy thread up, new owners will be announced imminently who have advanced plans to build a stadium and have already agreed either ending the tenancy at the Kassam early or extending it by a short time thus allowing houses to be built on the Kassam site?
@Scotchegg is that about right?

Virtually spot on, although the opportunity to end the tenancy early might be a push with the delays from the global pandemic.

They may have plans of what they want to build, but the question every wants to know is have they identified a site, had surveys done and ready for a planning application to proceed?

If not its no more further forward then a person wanting to build their dream home when they dont own any land and currently recide in a council house. 😐

Baz, I went along the Hanney road the other week for the 1st time in probably 20 years, I swear the pot holes are the same ones lol

You don't want to believe anything that I or others post so please just wait and see until everything comes into the public domain.
