International News Covid-19 .....

I think he’s saying the incredible diversity and effectiveness of this disease that emerged overnight was not a biological accident but more a laboratory accident
Heh? If there’s anything that makes it more likely to be lab based it is a lack of diversity.

**cough**

"The UK's growth is set to be the fastest among the large rich countries, the OECD says."

Literally went through this on here only last week. Percentage growth will always look big as a standalone number when the initial fall is very large. The further you drop to begin with, the bigger your percentage bounce will likely be. We had £100 at the start - if we lose £40 and then the remaining £60 grows by 20%, we have £72. If someone else loses £30 and then grows their remaining £70 by 10% - half the growth that we boast about as a stand-alone statistic - they have £77. We didn’t “win”.

You know this. You’re a smart bloke even if we don’t always agree.

Take it up with the OECD and @QR . :)

I would have expected a more detailed post from @QR comparing what the other countries have done in terms of furlough & business support as we have done rather a lot. Then there is the impact of lockdowns, or not, how others are applying them and to what degree.

Here at EY Towers the economic outlook is currently rosy.
We haven`t been out spending money.
We have two holidays bought & paid for which has also saved us money as Jet2 are moving them for free and holding the prices.
The cars haven`t moved off the drive for a very long time.
Still getting paid, still getting annual leave although we are working hard for it!!

Toke on!

Well that’s the UK economy sorted then.

I'm alright Jack-ism.

See, you got there in the end.

Matt Hancock may be proven to be a f*****g liar. Maybe.

Matt Hancock may be proven to be a f*****g liar. Maybe.

Interpretation of what people say is a very broad church for some and a very narrow laser for others.

MH says that "10`s of thousands of arms" were getting jabbed in Bolton.............. some say its lie as only on 1 day did more than 5k turn up.

Others say if each of those 5k had 2 arms that is 10`s of thousands. :)

Or if 2k a day turned up that is 10`s of thousands in a week...:)

Numbers eh?

So as expected we have to continue until 21st July. I’ve had enough of this BS!!

Let me guess…. Another variant will turn up about a week before again, and then keep us suppressed for longer. 14-15 months of this is enough.

I’m just going to do what I want, when I want! Im going to enjoy my life. That’s what it’s all about! It’s short enough as it is.

Herein is the issue. Many people are fed up/tired/bored with how things are.

Does Boris just stand up and say shift it for a month.

Or is there going to be a bit of carrot, so allow outdoor stuff with distancing "light", and restricted indoor stuff as a prelude to total relaxation in July?

Whichever way it goes folk will be screaming "What about us".......... and others will have been "thrown under the bus".

Or do we just accept that we are close to herd immunity and let rip?

Although it’s pretty much his fault he is in this position I do have some sympathy with the decision Johnson has to make, he is damned either way. People have had enough of restrictions after 15 months of them and just want to get on with life as normal but the infection has undeniably gone up.

Then again if he hadn’t if completely fucked up the India situation this would of been an easy win for him in reopening the country, so actually I have no sympathy at all and he should resign as he is a useless c**t.

Herd immunity? Aren’t you meant to work for the NHS? It’s like the lady in the ticket office supporting Swindon.
