That is THE question. Defines what what happens now, soon or not
Reminds me of that sketch with Tim Minchin and Prince Charles! Anyone?

Ive been having a think since my frustrated post earlier.
All the people saying 'Robbo Out' tend to be the same ones that are announcing 'we're a mid table team at best'. If we're a mid table team, why is our coming to the end of the season in 12th worthy of his sacking?
And if he's so bad why have we reached a playoff final so recently?

Just a thought.

How would you know that?

Yes come on Scotchegg, how do you know that. . . . . .

Maybe ESB on behalf of the forum can email the new SLO ! And ask him if he can arrange a Q&A with the scouse one..

Or maybe you could ask him on behalf of ESB?

Player ratings.

Stevens 6
Long 6
Moore 6
Atkinson 5
Hanson 3
Brannagan 3
Henry 4
Lee 6
Shodipo 3
Taylor 5
Barker 7 MOTM.

Can I have some of that stuff you are on , happy pills I'd imagine 😁😁.
Yes still possible but a hell of a lot of teams would need to capitulate and we seem to be more likely than any of them!

I agree with your sentiment, but come on, you have to admit, apart from a nine game run mid season, we've been crap all season, and are so inconsistent, and although mathematically, we could still make the playoffs, all the other teams above us, are not only head and shoulders better than us, and at least 6 points ahead of us already, but they've all also got at least one game in hand on us as well.

I hate writing off the season with 21 points still to play for, but we simply aren't good enough this season, and I think it would be more prudent to start getting our house in order NOW, and start making plans to clear out the deadwood, promote some youngsters now, and try to get a head start on the competition for next season, rather than keep flogging this season's dead horse.

IF, by some miracle, we manage to sneak our way into the playoffs at the same time then great, but let's be realistic, we're miles off the level required.

See............ still possible........... it maybe unlikely but..... 21 points still to play for.................... :) (y)

But the pendulum is moving at its quickest at the lowest point of the swing, and slows down as it approaches the highest points. Therefore most of the time the pendulum will be closer to the extremes!

Mm. Please provide workings.

How’s Shodipo on that list? As frustrating as he can be to watch the signing of Barker has pushed him to the right where he’s done naff all. Before then he was contributing somewhat regularly. Besides he plays for the badge. Unfair judgment imo
Well after today, not just today but I feel
I don’t want Hanson, Winnall, Hall, Grayson, Shadipo in a yellow shirt next season
Well that’s for starters .......
Shodipo has 11 goals. Second top scorer and best goals to games ratio.

2 wins off the play offs.................... still there to be had.

Correct.... as long as we win both games by 4 or 5 goals, and none of the six teams directly above us also win their two games. [emoji57]

Managers should be sacked for under achievement, not for broadly achieving what is expected. Bottom 6 then yes sack KR, mid table not great but not worthy of the sack. The stadium issue paying massive rent really impacts the playing budget.
So three years and counting, when we have stood still, as robinson spouts every excuse under the sun for the mistakes made across the board. And you say he should be given another year?
....and Jesus wept....

He’s also wildly out performing his goals based on the quality of chances. Who knows, we might have an elite finisher on our hands or he has been on a hot streak and will regress. Which could be an issue...as he doesn’t create much for others (although the sprint back for the block today was great!)

So what's the answer? KR to go?

We are not the big fish in the conference or even League 2 ....just because you stay where your budget is about right doesn't mean a failure , especially when you look at making a 1.5 million profit through player sales. If we had been able to build and retain half of those players then we would be finishing higher .

While I love a plucky outsider, We are sunk as a play-off hopeful.
Torpedoed by an average Accrington side who were more savvy, streetwise and robust than us. Far too many games have similarly slipped away in a fog of missed chances and grinding mediocrity.
It pains me to say it but despite the fact that we have some decent players here, We are not able to construct enough game to game consistency in our football to mount a serious challenge.
We have shown flashes of what we are capable of but it has never been more than just that, a merest glimpse.
Until we find a ruthless consistency in a system that all of the players are comfortable with then we will continue to come up short.

Something I posted on another thread regarding this season’s league results if you split them into thirds:

First 13 games: 13 points.

Second 13 games: 30 points.

Third 13 games: 13 points.

Record breaking, title winning form for 13 games. Relegation form for the other 26.
This sums up the lack of depth in the squad for me. It’s an oversimplification but we had no cover for Atkinson early on when he was out and have had no cover for McGuane or Gorrin later on in the season. Only period where we had a settled team with players in their natural positions and someone who could carry the ball in midfield, we were excellent.

KR has to get the balance right next year and not leave us with half a dozen lightweight midfielder/winger types and no adequate cover for key positions. He’s not wrong about McGuane being vital but it could have been half a dozen that we had no proper cover for. There was bound to be one that got injured.

This is a good point actually - we’ve developed players and made a profit in the last financial results and finished broadly where we should this season. It’s not great but it’s certainly not awful. People shouldn’t lose their jobs for that level of performance.

Reality is there are a few clubs who have budgets that dwarf the rest of us. There are one or two clubs with tiny budgets we should easily outperform. Then there are a whole load in the middle who pay pretty much the same - we might pay a bit more but it costs a damn sight less to live in Lincoln for example.

We should have realistic expectations for a playoff push every year and we should have had a better balance to the squad this year, but an overhaul is not needed to get us where need to be this summer.
