Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Well, I did hear KR in the end. I am just completely bewildered as to why he would have signed off on the Clare loan. He didn't have any guarantees of his choices coming in; he must have known that others with deeper pockets and a greater prospect of promotion were after them - so why get rid of Clare when he had demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he is very effective when played further forward.
Believe this has been done to death on Sean Clare thread

I assume - with no match day income - that we're going to lose several million this year already.
And, with purse strings a little tighter everywhere, I don't think we're going to be able to sell a player for multi-millions this year either. Too early for Atkinson, and Cam is too much of a question mark coming back from his eye injury.

Honestly, if I was on the Board, I don't think that I would view this season as the season to 'Go for It' and throw even more money at the team - both because of the above, and because we started terribly meaning we're sitting 14th, eight points off 6th, and at least five of the teams above us have substantially deeper pockets than we do.

We've got a decent team; add a backup CB and another loan winger for depth and tell KR to give it a go with what he's got. You never know.

But blowing another half million this January on 2-3 established players when, even then, our chances of promotion are going to be slim would be financially irresponsible.

(Though, as I always say - the exception is that if KR and his team have identified a quality 20-22 year old somewhere that's going to improve the squad now and potentially be a multi-million pound player in a few years, then you make that signing any time you can)

KR’s five minute forum moment was more interesting this week not for the transfer gossip (and most of us predicted the two out, hopefully two in + DOY) but for the off pitch comments. There was a suggestion that we wouldn’t have to sell as often as we do which struck me as odd. With no revenues other than player sales especially at the moment, that sounds like a grandiose plan. Well worth watching but I hope that it’s a malleable plan - we need those player sales to keep the club moving

That said, the CB target sounded like a youngster who would go straight out to a NL side with a 24 hour call back option. A winger would be a loanee I imagine. I can cope with that this season. I still think we blew our chance in the first 10 games this season but the playoffs aren’t a total write off.

Kip's posts are actually turning me off from reading threads on this forum.. everyone has an opinion and I have hardly ever posted anything. For me its black and white.. oufc win, im happy. If they lose or a game postponed as last Saturday I'm miserable. I just want to support my team

Why not use the ignore function? Same with the 10 others who liked your post. Simple solution really...

Disingenuous from Karl.

Even if the Wendys and Derby do get relegated the utter tinpotness of Wycombe will mean the average size of the relegated clubs is still smaller than ever.

EDIT - Rochdale have just signed someone on loan from Luton

- 3 clubs have yet to bring anyone in: Crewe, Oxford, and Peterborough

- Amongst the other 20 clubs, there have been 40 in's.
4 in: Burton, Swindon.
3 in: Gillingham, Hull, MK Dons, Northampton.
2 in: Bristol Rovers, Charlton, Doncaster, Ipswich, Plymouth.
1 in: AFC Wimbledon, Accrington, Blackpool, Fleetwood, Lincoln, Portsmouth, Rochdale Shrewsbury, Sunderland, Wigan.
See below. I've also amended the totals as Shrewsbury announced two loan signings on 31st December with affect from 1st January.
So total January signings are 42.
There have been a lot of loanees return to parent clubs so I have included this as a separate column.

Table contains deals announced as of 17:00 today (21st Jan)
So one of three clubs not to strengthen so far, but squad will be three lighter with Mous pulling out.

KR on Fans Forum, seems to be confirming what i suggested: one winger, one CB cover. That’s it. Or did I hear him wrong? Interested in Scotchers thoughts.....
If that's the case, then that's not acceptable, for a side with three spaces. Where's the ambition?

Am I wrong in asking where the money comes from for signings at the minute? I want us to do well but surely our long term future supersedes any short term gain by bringing anyone in.
Sorry, if we were a side looking to push for promotion, we would be looking to better the squad. We were quick enough to ship players out. We missed it last year by a whisker. kr let's so many fans down by spouting his usual diatribe to then come up with comments like he did today.
Why can't the club be honest, we either don't have the resources to mount a challenge, or they are simply are not interested in promotion.

So, just two in (and one of those straight out) which, assuming they are both over 21, still leaves one place available in the squad, as Mous is surely being omitted.

Must mean Osei will be added? Pity we didn't keep hold of Clare.
Exactly, why we leave Clare go, and possibly be the only club that thinks they can afford to leave a space in the squad empty.

For comparison because I've found the old spreadsheet (and I'm sad). The Jan 2020 window had around 70 incomings to L1 with 2 less clubs able to conduct transfers - Bury obviously not present and Southend were under embargo.

This time round, it's at 43 with 10 days to go.
Crewe's late addition today means it's just us and Peterborough yet to sign anyone in this window.
