Robinson is funny - he does a triple substitution against Portsmouth and it works well, so he tries the same against Swindon, and it backfires, so he waits ages to make them against Ipswich...

Why not judge each game on its merits and see what is needed tactically, not just react to what worked or didn’t work last game?
Perhaps he did. You just don’t know. Unless you are a PL or EFL manager ?

" A performance high on conviction" writes Chris Williams in his "report" on last night's match. Does he really believe that? Does any one believe that? Couple that with Tiger's bland programme notes (who writes these, I wonder?) suggests to me an air of fake news around the club. I detect the smell of turd polishing in the Oxfordshire countryside.

wonder if the reports between last night and Saturday last have been mixed up? - there were some players , who after their 'contribution ' ( lack of) on Saturday, who shouldve been locked up!

How do you build any play when the ball does not stick up front? The full backs provide zero quality from an attacking perspective
and as always the set piece delivery is so often poor.

That was a good chance to win a game againt very ordinary opponents but we can’t build anything and so often in second halves at home
we offer little after an hour or so. It seems we vacant the central midfield area and just try and get it down the right side all the time.
Can’t see where the creativity is.

A clean sheet is welcome of course but we just don’t show enough ambition to win a game.
You hit the nail on the head in describing what's wrong. Add in poor recruiting and a manager who's run out of ideas it does not bode well for the rest of the season. I doubt much will change in the January window and I fear carnage on Saturday against Hull.

Poor boy! Don’t cry!

Just watching those clips, interesting to note that Sam long featured in each chance in the first half by making something happen - not bad from someone who provides "zero quality from an attacking perspective....."

We are a shadow of the team we were at the start of the year, it’s a very hard watch at present and the players we have are just not good enough to realise the potential we had at this club we love.
We as OUFC supporters know what our most effective formation is.
* A committed ”for the cause” goalkeeper
* Two solid ”no frills“ centre backs
* A right back and a left back that (a) can defend but more importantly (b) can get forward and overlap the our midfielders to create a threat.
* A box to box midfielder with an eye for goal
* An unsung hero in midfield breaking up the play from opponents
* A striker that is capable of 20+ goals a season
* The remainder of the team work to compliment the key players which in turn improve them to go on to bigger and better careers.
THIS FORMATION, DNA, TYPE OF PLAYER, WHATEVER YOU CALL IT HAS BEEN THE CATALYST EVERY TIME WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL.....
.
Everyone reading this will have opinions of putting ex-players into my above categories from yesterdays past, and every name banded around will be better than we currently have.
I don’t think we have the players in the club at present that fit into the “OXFORD UNITED” DNA......
Not much to ask you wouldn’t think!

I know the clubs media team are always going to put the positive spin on things but I really can't stand the lack of tough or even remotely interesting questions from him. Not exactly probing investigative sports journalism that's for sure.

I must confess to being disappointed, again
Ipswich dud not have a good team out last night, it was a very good chance to get 3 points, but yet again we were poor in front of goal, albeit not conceding I suppose is a very slight positive ....

Thats the problem with reading or listening to anyone employed by the club. PRB is the same on the radio/ifollow.

I've given up listening to CW

Great praise on a young defence that holds out against a very poor Ipswich team; was the defence good or were their forwards (and the rest of the team) particularly poor, missing first-teamers and on a bad run ? Fortunately Karl is looking to the transfer market next month to ease our problems. Trouble is he will start his ramblings about earmarked players much too soon giving these players time to work out their excuses for not joining us.!! I would love the club to let the fans know who we 'were' chasing; I understand (reluctantly) we won't be told beforehand but could be told once we fail to sign the numerous players, and why. Additionally it would show the fans what type of player , and what type of team Karl is searching for, accepting he is under certain restrictions. Knowing the names and quality of players we have genuinely tried to sign but failed is preferable to the doubt raised by being fed with mystery men of no name who seem to falter at the final hurdle of signing contracts !!

Chris Williams is employed by the club, and writes report (or programme notes) for the club. So these will generally be more upbeat than comments on here (even mine!). But let's not forget that Chris is first and foremost an Oxford fan and works incredibly hard behind the scenes to give us the interaction we have. Without him we almost certainly would have half of the media content or the fan engagement we had prior to covid. If you want a hard hitting critical review of our performance then the club website probably isn't the place to go!!

I wouldn't say I want hard hitting, I am happy with a bit more of a positive view on the club, just something a bit more probing would be good. Most of his questions are actually just gifting the answer to whoever he is interviewing.

I actually happen to think the interaction could be much much better. Virtual tours of the training ground and or stadium, a this week in Oxford series which maybe chronicles what has been going on over the past week around the club, more content on the youth development aspect of the club (to add to the already good updates from DH). iFollow isn't really worth it for anything other than seeing live games which means 4k worth of season ticket holders are missed out on
