Robinson’s interview should get more stick than it’s getting from the local media. It’s all the players, is it Karl? They lost it on their own yeah? You say we didn’t keep the ball and were panicking - where was Forde then? Why isn’t he in the middle of the pitch giving us energy and calmness, either when Kelly is blowing or when McGuane needs removing? Two opportunities to get him on and you failed. If Mousinho isn’t a total crock why didn’t you have him on next to Gorrin after 80/85 minutes shoring things up and helping people stay cool? If you’re going to remove both wingers then why isn’t Robbie Hall, who has good experience in these games, any sort of option for even 15 minutes instead of a temperamental loanee and a striker you absolutely insist on battering the confidence out of week after week? Why have you put Agyei on the wing AGAIN when he CANNOT play there, which not only nullifies him offensively as he is forced to work in tighter areas, but also means we suffer defensively because he does not know how to track back effectively? The guy chased and scrapped with centre backs all night at Portsmouth, so when you’re saying we stopped pressing their centre halves why the hell wasn’t he given that task for ten minutes instead of Taylor?

Sorry, Karl, but you absolutely fluffed your lines today, and the fact that you have come out and nailed players to the mast is the mark of you. You do this every time the going gets tough, just like in the first full season when you started saying player X, Y and Z weren’t your players, and any other nonsense you come out with on the spot to deflect. A lot of people might be too blinkered and/or stupid to remember what you do and say and apply it down the line when you contradict yourself, but I’m not. You bottled Wembley and you bottled the derby. Take some responsibility for that.
Great post - I agree with every word.

I don’t mean to keep slagging the manager off but im starting to get sick of the sound of his voice and his excuses. Says the players don’t have enough passion but isn’t he the one who brought them in? He’s been here long enough now to get the players he wants. If they players aren’t passionate enough, good enough etc then why did he bring them in? As a minimum he has to admit he recruited badly if he can’t take any other blame.
Spot on.

Perhaps. I don't necessarily think you need 11 composed ball players at league 1 level though.

Long (and Ruffels) are the least of our problems.

Exactly, we have been back at this level for 4 years now, most of the teams that we have played that have been promoted during that time have had units at the back who are as good as playing the game as the average poster on here but who don’t make silly defensive mistakes at the back all the time. Do the basics well and you won’t go 23 games without a clean sheet.

Sam Long isn’t perfect but he does a job for us, to many players would rather look pretty than do their job.

He was a good shot stopper but no more than that, that’s why he never got a move any higher. No club ever offered him a big money move else he would of gone, same as every other player who ever left us. Now he is not even much of a shot stopper, the rest of his game is all over the place.

No room for sympathy in football, he needs to be replaced.
Correct - nearly threw away the points at Accrington due to a badly timed punch giving away the penalty. Could have lost us the game at Wigan due to dropping the ball from a tame cross and an absolute howler today. He's also not making the excellent saves he was making last season - I really can't remember any crackers this season.

Time for a change.

You do need 11 players with a certain standard of composure/quality on the ball and I do think he is below the standard. I've said it before, I think he has potential and he is young enough that he can develop those areas so the type of ball we saw in the first half happens more often. Agree, he is not our biggest problem. I think we need a leader at the back. I have a feeling come January, finances allowing, Mous will come of registered players list and we will bring an experienced CB in.

Six points down now from what we had at this stage last season!
Relegation battle or mid-table at best?
Finishing above that lot down the road is probably the most our fans hope for.

Shrewsbury and rovers have both sacked their managers this season. We are on the same points as rovers and i guess our board have higher aspirations than those teams. KRs job must be hanging on a thread.
Not a chance of KR going - would cost £1m

Yes fine, one example. I think he has potential and like him but he is normally lacks a lot of composure and today there were a couple of classic examples of it.
Sam plays with his heart on his sleeve and is 100 per cent OUFC but makes a big error each game. He gets caught under a big diagonal
today in the first half and got done out wide by Grant. His attacking play has improved but we don’t often see much of it consistently.
Having said that he made a great chance at Portsmouth and also centred for Taylor’s horror miss this afternoon.
Lacks a bit of a calm head at times and a bit of quality.

The bigger issue is Ruffels - not sure what is happening. Swindon’s wide man Stevens got in behind twice early on.

Ruffs’ passing today was also unbelievable poor and he seemed completely unable to control a ball during the second half.
He was one of the culprits who kept whacking the ball out out play when a pass was on.

Not seen much comment about James Henry on the match day thread - he had a terrible game today and could
do little right. Thought Gorrin, McGuane and Kelly had decent games for an hour before we became ragged and disjointed.

Robinson has much to reflect on and he won’t be getting much sleep for the next few nights. - that’s for sure.

Maybe no room for sympathy, but there is room for respect.

He has been awful for ages now, Long gets told he is not good enough on here while he has Eastwood making error after error behind him, he doesn’t have a lot to do yet with still costs us massively.

He tried to get away but no one wanted him, you can see why.

But who picks him game after game? Anyone can see that he's lost form and needs resting if not retiring. We have a decent sub goalie in Jack Stevens so why not give him match time instead of driving a player who's clearly up to it ever further into the white.

We are all hurting at the moment because we lost to that rabble.
But some of the comments on here about a player who has been a great servant to our club for 4 or 5 years are shameful.
those people when they sober up in the morning hopefully will regret such vile remarks.

If Robinson picks him after today (and I doubt he will) then he deserves every bit of abuse he gets, it’s time for a change.

Which player?
