Away Match Day Thread 24/11/2020 L1 Portsmouth FC v OUFC

Fisher's incident was Saturday, he was charged on Monday with improper conduct and had until 18:00 last night to respond.
The wait till Monday was probably due to Sunday not being a working day.

So if there is a charge against Taylor, it could be as early as today, with his response required by 18:00 on Thursday. Or nudge everything on every 24 hours.

The turnaround time for any punishment announcement v Fisher now that his response time is up, will give us a clear indication of whether there is a risk of Taylor missing Saturday's game.

Spot on.
Gorrin and KR allow him to play with freedom.
Great to watch him. The whole defence looks steadier (although Atkinson should have done better for their goal)

Yeah he certainly has flaws but is no different to Dunkley and Dickie.

I know wiyth new recruitment restrictions it will be tough, but looking for a Gorrin understudy will be important in the next 2 windows. He is obviously the key to everything we do and makes everyone around him look better - breaks up play, starts counters, fill gaps.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes the FA to decide upon an appropriate punishment for Taylor (and Fisher at PNE).

For some context (albeit a different, perhaps better organised sport at the moment) but Joe Marler, England prop, received a 10 week ban for a similar incident which was caught retrospectively. The minimum ban (usually 12 weeks) was reduced due to good character and remorse.

It could prove a costly mistake if were without Taylor for anything near 12 weeks between December and March.

I reckon a 3 game ban. Even 10 weeks would be 20 games the way this season is.

Good effort from Pompey and their local press to ramp up pressure on FA to impose some sort of sanction on our man.....
Obviously still fear us coming good later in the season so doing their best to hold us back now

Trial be media.

As previously stated; one wonders what photos from the incident will never see the light of day.

You are joking I hope , Kip only posts lots when we lose and basically doesn't act like a fan but is uber critical of the club , staff , players not just as we all are but really trying to put the club down it seems with super negative tendencies .....I quite enjoy some of his posts and try and remain fair with him....to start going on about bullying is embarrassing.

Your post is factually incorrect in an extraordinarily big way by stating he only posts when we lose. That in itself suggests you’re buying into the mob mentality narrative.

Which proves my point that people are willing to jump on the bandwagon and criticize an individual based on what everyone else in the playground is doing without reflecting on fact.

As I say it shows the hallmarks of bullying and no it’s not embarrassing at all it’s calling people out for their behaviors of group think against one individual who turns up in a different way.

“oooh he’s a Swindon fan” 😴😴🥱😴🥱

Read the quote , I said posts lots when we lose not only .
And is it not bullying to call out someone being disrepecful towards your football club , players , directors etc .
I have never called him a Swine fan either.
Calling some fans out for being a bit pissed off that a particular poster is awfully negative.....and as for bullying....are you for real !

I'd like to read posts by Kip that are "occasionally" negative but the fact is that will never happen. It is the majority of his posts, in my opinion. I've challenged him on things before but have not found a sensible response (that I can remember). As for bullying alluded to by Ricky Otto, I find that almost laughable - the fact that a bunch of people call him out on posts that look like they're attention seeking is not bullying. For avoidance of doubt there is clearly no place for bullying and I would think the mods are on top of this, just as they are on top of trolling posts.
But @LeftSideBoy we did play well last night!

Agree with the point that simple and open questions relating to what he had said are seldom acknowledged, much less answered.

That does make accusations of trolling appear more plausible.

There appears to be an undercurrent of criticism of Kip. Kip's been around on this forum - and its predecessor - for a lot longer than many posters. Kip is an Oxford fan. Kip has opinions that some might not like to hear, but are valid none-the-less.

Kip is not aggressive, doesn't make personal comments and displays no trolling tendencies.

Personally, I'd rather read posts by Kip that are occasionally - but by no means always - critical of OUFC than posts by an Oxford fan who refuses to accept ANY criticism of the club, however reasoned or intelligently voiced.

Other posters can feel free to challenge Kip and his views in the spirit of a football discussion forum.
Here comes the Archbishop.

‘No trolling tendencies’. Eh ?

Kip’s not as longwinded as you I’d give him that. 😉

So anyway, we played really well last night 😅 If anyone cares to discuss the main point of this thread?
I think we played well in patches. The first 15 minutes were good, but after they scored we looked distinctly average and could have shipped another goal or two quite easily. Then we improved again for much of the second half (especially when the fresh legs came on) before retreating and looking a bit Keystone Cops and panicky for the very end.

Much of that is I am sure down to confidence. Hopefully last night (and the Wigan game) will have boosted that confidence - the whole team should now know they *can* do it and certain individuals are now playing very well indeed.

I don't mind any posts that take a contrary position to mine, as long as they're balanced and insightful and not, to quote the magnificant Basil Fawlty, 'the bleedin' obvious'.

We're all experienced fans, long versed in what it means to follow a club who bring a glimmer of joy approximately once every three seasons or so. We all know when we've been crap, it very seldom needs Nostradamus pointing it out.

The thing is that most supporters 'support' with constructive criticism at times of crisis, rather than break out the Kleenex and the hand cream. Personally, if 98% of what I had to say was negative....I'd probably keep most of it to myself and spare society the arseache.

Just seen what lead up to the penalty decision......was ita foul?....looks like Agyei just fell over!
Not complaining though.

The Pompey players did not make too much of a fuss. They also felt it was a penalty.
