Manager/Coach Karl Robinson

Completely agree. Of all the players to single out for criticism, Sam Long has probably been the one who deserves it the least. Alongside Forde, the two have stood up to the challenge and rarely let us down.
Dear oh dear. I am not be critical of Sam Long as a player. I was saying that because of poor recruitment, we get a few injuries and he has to be the cover for the whole defence. For one thing its not fair on him.

I have to take issue with your final sentence. Sam Long has, in my opinion, been our most consistent player this season by some distance and was definitely the strongest member of the back four against Fleetwood. Whether he was on the bench last year or not is irrelevant. It's possible he's improved as a player in the past 12 months!
I was aiming more at poor recruitment not Sam Long the player. He shouldn't be in the position of being the only cover all along the back line. If he got injured we'd be stuffed!!
Hopefully we'll address that this week.

There's no doubt Sam Long as been our most consistent and best performing player this season, I think many would agree. Unfortunately, no disrespect to Sam, that's also the reason we are bottom of the league.

The big name players we needed to perform this season aren't doing so, or they are missing through injuries.

The only way of getting ourselves out of this is Karl Robinson admitting some wrongdoings in recruitment and changing his tactics and being more flexible to suit our current situation. It remains to be seen if he can do so, I hope he can turn things around because his passion for this club has been superb.

KR has pulled us out of stickier situations than this with worse squads in the past. It's not looking great at the moment, but there are mitigating factors. It's a supremely unusual season. Obviously every team will be affected by COVID, but it will affect every team differently.

Not trying to be a happy-clappy optimist, yesterday was concerningly rubbish, but I think some perspective is needed.

I agree with not ditching at the first sign of trouble, just wondering if we're on the first, second or third signs of trouble...

A slow start is something we are used to now, but players walking around and not carrying out the basics? Poor substitutions, not willing to change, playing square pegs in round holes... all bad signs for me.

Won't call for his head just yet but these games are becoming increasingly frustrating to watch

Were not on the Titanic just yet, but if things dont improve soon we could be heading that way. What was worrying was KR comments that the players had no pride and were not playing for the club, that may be so but should not be made public, it doesnt give much confidence to them or us if that is what his thoughts are. He is the manager, get it sorted, get the pride and passion back. Cant wait for the day Brannagan will be back, even then we must not expect miracles after what that lad is going through.

Happy to give him the next 6 games to turn this around!
If we are still in the bottom 4, then it's time for him to go.
New man in for the January window.

Hes here regardless. He knows that. Hes still (slightly) in credit for last season, but i sense he is slipping into old habits, forgetting what made us decent, and the bullshit is returning

The sign of a good manager is how you deal with adversity. We are right in the s**t, so the next few weeks will tell us just how capable Robbo is

Else it could be Sol Campbell to the rescue!

Speculation started then...

That's a clickbait factory looking for a headline.

We all know KR is staying. As others have said, he has steered us out of trouble before and he’s got some decent players at his disposal still. There is still time to at least get us out of relegation trouble and that starts by doing the basics right. Bore our way to a couple of 0-0s with a proper defence and get to January for reinforcements and some dead wood exits.

That said, the saddest thing is that any thoughts of promotion are essentially over now a mere 10 matches into the season. We’ve lost too many matches already to be a real automatic competitor. It at least focuses the mind on staying up and in business for 2021-22.

FWIW, if he ever left, would we trust Tiger with the next appointment? Patrick Kluivert and Jaap Stam were mentioned before Eales’ more steady approach landed us with KR.

Is Tiger that naive?
Surely a businessman and a football savvy one would have a contingency plan in place if things went tits-up!

I'm sure Tiger appointed KR!?

Ha! First suggested replacement is super Sol!

*I think* Eales stayed on in a consultancy role once he had sold the club

Yep. He still had 10% at that point. Craig Bellamy was DE’s choice but that fell through as the takeover occurred.

We know Tiger was considering Kluivert who wasn’t interested and Stam who he had worked with at Reading.

KR was the eventual one to come in once he’d departed Charlton which always suggested that DE guided Tiger towards a more steady choice.
