Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Winnall was unlucky not to score at the near post (was a good run/positioning by him) after a very good reaction save by their keeper and had another decent effort saved after a great run by Cooper. You could tell that he needs matches though for fitness and linking up with other players but tbf he didn't have that much service.
Totally agree. ( on this matter ) 😏

If agyei is pretty average on matchdays the rest of our team are way below average. Agyei is one of the only players who has looked pretty decent imo.
He has his moments. But he is in my view incredibly inconsistent.
A bit like a second rate George Lawrence.
One minute he breezes past a player as if they are not there and then he falls over himself when he should score.
There loads of potential there but at 23, he really needs to start performing consistently.
Shodipo looks to me to have far more potential.
Really hope I am wrong though.

I always feel he’s like when we play a Conference team in the cup and they have a dangerous forward who catches the eye. Not sure if he can make the step up yet.

I think it might screw up careers for players just over the age limit. I reckon Sam Long wouldn't be at Oxford now if this had been in place when he was that age as he was a bit part player iirc. I think it hampers late developers and could hinder the development of young players as they may be pushed into the 1st team picture a bit too early.

I don't get the rationale for a salary cap and squad limit. Whilst I can't see the Salary Cap getting voted out, I could see the squad limit going.
I think there should be an exception for home grown players who perhaps should not count towards the 22(20) until they are say 23 if they have been at the club since say age 18...

I hope that's the case.

I don't mind a squad cap as long as it's a sensible number. 22 already feels tight and 20 for next season just isn't feasible as you can't then have cover for every position. 26 would be readily sufficient for all clubs whilst also putting the brakes on any new moneybags EFL side from deciding to 'do a Chelsea' and hoover up all the talent.

I take solace that youngsters under a given age are exempt from this however it would be good to stretch that age range out to 24 or so.

a strong case to recruit more like Sam Long then that do a decent job in various positions.

if you stopped the Jan Window then clubs would need to get their recruitment right and 22 of the right players would be fine but what we see is the more "lazy" approach as clubs know they have Loans and over hyped Transfer Windows to fall back on.

There's a big difference from stating player z is a squad player and then actual intending using the player.. Get all the Business done in the summer and rise and fall from your decisions.

You dont need a squad cap when you have a wage cap,if clubs want to have 35 players they should be allowed as long as its under a realistic wage cap. That wage cap should at least have the Championship included otherwise its totally unfair on the other 2 leagues.

Exactly. What’s the difference in having 22 players on £2k a week or 44 on £1k a week?

Relegation HY methinks..... but I do agree with the principle providing there is more transparency from all clubs

In fairness he has made the step up once before when on loan at Coventry. The time he was there he was the stand out player on the pitch against us, great performance. He’s striving for consistency but he’s easily good enough to impact L1.

Yeah he might be but he just has that gangly slightly dopey manner and hasn’t quite proved himself.
