Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Obita was out for two years with a knee injury according to this. Returned in July 2019.

He's since played 26 games, scoring 3 goals. Last game was in July 2020.

Definitely be signing him then.

We've looked weak through the fullback positions. Play with wing backs and it would be even worse. Clare struggles to get into position now, do it'll only get worse if he's given more freedom. Ruffels has struggled and Obita offers a different option at left back. But if he plays as a wingback then you risk Shodipo being cramped for space, and we potentially nullify our best attacking option at the moment.

Stick with 4 at the back, Forde or Long at right back, give Ruffels a break if Obita is fit enough to start, and bring Atkinson or Mous in only when fully fit.

I see where you are coming from with the problem at fullback but undoubtedly Gorrin should be in there defending the back three and allows them to be a tighter unit. If you look at the teams we've played against this year with a back 3/5 they've been able to hold their shape in defence quite well and playa block defence, now i don't think you need the best full/wing backs to do that. I think by playing them at wing backs it could turn our biggest negative into a positive, due to them not having to defend as much.

Additionally, I think by playing wing backs it will allow our wingers/wide men in Henry and Shodipo to get closer to Taylor and play with him a bit more as the last three or four games I've seen he's been so isolated working his B*****s off for limited service and no support. I also think shodipo being a right footed player playing on the left he will naturally drift infield anyway to come to the ball.

I know KR won't do it but by playing a back three/five i could see him playing two strikers with that too.

Below is what i'd love to see, have that up our sleeves as our Plan A hasn't been working at the minute.
3/4/3
Eastwood
Long Moore Atkinson
Clare Forde Gorrin Ruffles/Obita
Henry Taylor Shodipo

Eastwood
Atkinson
Gorrin Hanson Kelly
Brannagan Sykes Mcguane
Forde Henry
Taylor

1-8-1 formation is the way forward (or sideways) don’t have to worry about full backs being s**t if they’re on the bench, and this way at least Hanson gets a game so not wasting a wage

Eastwood
Forde Moore Atkinson Obita
Gorrin Ruffels
Sykes Henry Shodipo
Taylor

Seems like a decent side to me?
When you add Brannagan to the side no reason we shouldn’t be challenging for play offs

That's a decent XI and you could even risk Clare as RB since you have the cover of Ruffels and Gorrin in that XI (Forde or Long would be better though).

Well (as always) I'll wait to see Obita play before judging, but does seem to be keen on the physio's table...

Bit odd that we have signed a left back / left winger, but what do I know?
