Well we don't have a balanced and competitive squad because of the P**s poor recruitment before the start of the season. Now we are making a panicked signing.
 
Obita has mostly been a left back in his career, hasn't he?

Would prefer a CB, but that would be preferable to another winger (after all, we had three wingers on the bench on Saturday, and basically nobody else with any experience and/or fitness).

Ruffels is and has been a wonderful servant for the club, but he's in a horrible run of form at the moment, so an alternative would be a good thing.

Agree with these two points. But your original one was bizarre.
 
If Obita does sign could we see Ruffels play alongside Gorrin in a 442 with Taylor & Winnall up top.

Would make sense if Brannagan is out for a while

I really hope not. Ruffels has had a shocker in his specialist position, let alone in centre midfield. No thank you.

If you have attacking full backs like Obita & Clare I think a 442 could work with that midfield pairing as theyre defensive.

No.
Appleton put him there a couple of times in an emergency when we had injuries to Skarz and Evans at the end of 15/16.
Then it was Skarz and Johnson but he did play a few games again to cover for injuries.
Clotet took over and used Johnson initially then signed Ricardinho when Johno left. Clotet did use Ruffs as a CM.
It wasn't until KR took over that Ruffs became the regular left back after the failure of Garbutt the following season.

This does concern me. Surely with the way the defence has been performing, the back four needs to go back to basics? Concentrate on defending first and foremost. Robinsons obsession with attacking from all over the pitch will just leave our threadbare two CBs even more exposed. (If it does turn out to be Obita obviously. Im still praying its the CB Heneghan)

I do see your argument for the defensive MF though.
 
Looks like it will be a while (2 weeks?) before whoever it is is match fit? I also reckon Tiger must be asking serious questions of the recruitment team as to why things have gone so badly wrong - let's hope for a positive result tonight.
