Hiding behind the PHE makes a change from the Web Fingered, Sister/Mother shaggers mouthing behind the protection of the TVP. Hate them even more now, didn’t think that would ever be possible but my healthy hatred for them has been increased exponentially. F@ck Off Swind@n

It’s not ONE game, it’s been 3 matches already and there’s going to be more.

And we will be in the same place we were in at the end of last season at the end of this one too.

To get through this season the EFL etc need to sort this mess out with proper constructed processes/rules and testing.
Yes there will be more, and they might be due to our players/staff catching covid. But collectively, we need to find a way to get through this and still have a club and a league to play in. Clubs need to take some responsibility for the welfare of their players. We have taken this very seriously with strict testing processes in place. I know of a number of players who wear masks when visiting wider family members to protect them and others in the club. A club night out (before restrictions on numbers) was cancelled to again protect everyone involved. If we can do it, then so can other clubs. We can't put all the blame on the EFL of PFA (who could of course do more). If football is to survive in the lower leagues, every player, every club and every organisation needs to do more.

First post from me in a while, I am really passed off today has been called off but also think they may well have missed their best chance to beat us.
If anyone is looking for a live game to watch! this afternoon Banbury United are streaming their FA cup game against Bury( Suffolk) for £1.50. If they win it will be the first time since 1973 they have made the first round proper.

More I think about the more realisation that having a system which appears to be no better than an honour system in the professional game becomes more ludicrous with each postponement.

EFL needs to impose some kind of mandatory testing with clear and visible access to the results. Understand the finances are an issue but feel like it's a system that can be taken advantage of far too easily in its current form.

A lot of the problem comes from the inconsistency in testing between clubs, presumably due to the financial burden of doing regularly. If clubs cannot fund it themselves then it should not be beyond the wit of those involved to establish funding either from a central source (EFL, PFA, EPL, etc) or via local sponsorship.

Then a process could be implemented along the lines of (presuming two games a week)
All clubs test players on Sunday and Wednesday.
Results back by Tuesday and Friday
Any new cases, the immediate game is postponed and positive player isolates and misses next three game slots.
Rest of squad test again per timetable, if more cases emerge, next game off too, if not any more then game goes ahead.
Infected players can return to squad/matches after three game isolation and a negative test in the next round of tests after that.

So, for Swindon, test results yesterday show 2or 3 players test positive // today's game postponed // those 3 isolate // rest of squad tested again on Sunday // any new positives, Tuesday game postponed // but if no new cases game goes ahead with available players // next test weds for Saturday game etc // 3 infected players test again on the Sunday after and once a negative result received can then rejoin group for the next Tuesday game //

Crewe // test Sunday prior to cup game - if wintle positive then Newcastle cancelled // test weds, beckles would have been positive once results appear Friday // original Oxford game postponed// squad tested again Sunday , two more cases // Tuesday game cancelled // squad tested weds, no new cases, Saturday game goes ahead // wintle also tested on the weds, and if negative result back can rejoin squad for Saturday game // squad tests again Sunday, including beckles, etc

Sorted!

There should be a ruling, making clubs use youth, academy players, ie players not in the 22 squad to get the game played. Hardly an excuse then. Unless the efl are on the ground at the game that is called off, then the wool could potentially get pulled over their eyes.

What would also be good is if they could actually tell us that they are testing because they think there’s a problem on that actual day rather than leave it to the day before or match day.being prepared for the event is far better than getting this out of the blue at the last minute.

Hang on. Oxford did nothing wrong. The Mail and Radio Ox merely repeated what was first said from the swine end.
Wasn't critising the club, just everyone who was reporting on the web and social media before the final decision was made.

I think part of the problem is that those with authority in the game (FA, EFL, PFA etc.) once again seem to lack the intelligence and commitment to address the real practical problems, especially those below the premier league level. Instead, they turn their attention to money-grabbing schemes and political in-fighting. Is there a problem with representation? How are the boards of these organisations constituted, and how well do individuals represent their 'constituencies'?

What's with all these Oxford fans sucking up to Swindon on Twitter f**k them.
Tbf Swindon have followed protocol and do things by the book, conspiracists on here and social media saying that they’re just saying that because they have players out is ludicrous as I’m sure the EFL and necessary bodies would know this is true, however Covid Alexandra now that’s a different kettle of fish.

Just find a Tory peer with (not very much of an) interest in lower league football, stick a close relative of theirs on the board of directors, and I'm sure this Conservative government will throw a billion-pound contract at the problem without so much as a counter-tender. Sorted!

This is excellent (albeit too much like common sense for the modern infrastructure to cope with).

Still the hairiest problem remains though...what to do with / how to compensate - the innocent party who's done nothing wrong, yet will find their fixture list piling up dangerously at the pointy end of the season?
