MK Dons reminded me a little of Southend last year.
It's all very elegant and all passing it out from the back every time - but when your back four are mostly populated with plodding lower league defenders, then you're going to screw it up several times a game, and give the opposition some guilt-edged chances. Our general energy and harrying up front was excellent today - if our finishing had been equally good we could have scored a boatload because they gifted us the ball in some incredibly generous positions!

Forde's ball for the second goal was a thing of great beauty.

I like Agyei - he's quick, strong and causes problems but he is not a natural finisher. His miss just before the third goal was inexcusable - any striker with confidence would have side-footed first time into an open net.

Nice introduction, Olamide Shodipo! Welcome to the Club!

I'd still like another defender, please Karl. We're fine for forwards.

All in all great to get three points in the bank. Let's make sure we win on Saturday, and then we can start to look up at the top of the table again......

Big win!

Missed most of the first half, including the goals, as ifollow is f*****g shite!

Having since seen clips of the goals, excellent work from Atkinson for the first, hopefully he's ok for Saturday, but it didn't look good.
Poor defending for their equaliser, we were all over the place.

Great cross from Forde for Longs goal, hope Forde is ok for Saturday, and an absolute corker from Shodipo, let's hope to god it's not another Van Kessel situation!!

Thought Sykes put in his best performance for a long time, Mcgaune looked a lot better, and Clare once again showed how useful he can be going forward, but still can't defend to save his life!!

And the less said about Agyei's miss, the better!

Still major defensive frailties, that Robbo MUST address, especially if Atkinson is injured again.

Hopefully gained a bit of momentum in time for Saturday, ready to smash the scum, bring em on!!

COYY

Should Eastwood have saved their second? Hit like a bullet swerving away from him. Great strike, should have been flattened long before then.
Finally the luck we deserve with Shodipo’s shot hitting the post and going in, not out for a goal kick.

Yes, he shouldn't have been allowed to shoot from there, the defence sold themselves there.

Also, forgot to mention in previous post, Atkinson did well for the 1st goal and very promising if his injury isn't long term.

Clare running from deep with the ball at full tilt is some sight. He’s very athletic and could easily do a job out wide.

Still poor at fullback from a defensive view point and teams are going to target that area.

Thank God for Mide “ Mid-day “ Shodipo. They call him Mid-day at Loftus Road coz he was often late for training!

Nah, got to be called Gino here.

Robinson definitely tactically outthought the MK manager which was nice to see.

The good: Atkinson, Sykes, Forde, McGuane, Taylor

The bad: Ruffels, Clare, Henry

Nice to see some other mugs tap the ball about for 70% possession stat and lose. The most pointless stat to win in football now, that style of football has been found out.

Good to see us press and be more direct, we were still heart attack inducing at the back and wasteful in front of goal but we came on top in the one statistic that matters in what was an entertaining if not the (neither team will be troubling the promotion battle but I will live with that as long as we don’t go down and still exist next season) highest quality league one game you will ever see.

In terms of possession, bit like Wycombe!

Think that’s the best I’ve seen McGuane play for us hopefully he can improve some more but well done to the lad.
Sykes MOM
Henry quiet
Agyei “ how could you miss “
Clare definitely not a RB although play home from the midfield and I think we will have a layer of promise.
Ruffs puffing a bit not as quick to defend as we know he can
Moore seen better
Pleased for Long
Atkinson hope not to serious
Forde reliable as usual hope taken of as a precaution
McGuane best I’ve seen of but hope he improves more
Taylor put himself about a bit and a good game and right place for goal
Eastwood not to bad although should have saved their 2nd goal
Gorrin solid but maybe should have taken one for the team
Shadipo Paddy great start hope he can continue

Thought Ruffels improved as the game went on. Tbf to him and Clare, they got little help from McGuane and Henry defensively for decent chunks of the 1st half.

Glad we managed to get the win, it was definitely needed.

The defence is a huge concern. I really do hate to say it, but Clare is a liability at the moment. He doesn't really have any positional sense and it was evident MK were targeting him. Moore and Atkinson keep losing their men in and around the 6 yard box far too often, and Ruffels seems to be struggling without having the support of a more assured CB alongside him.

It's positive that we scored three goals, given our recent difficulties in that regard. Sykes seemed to be back on form, and McGuane looked a bit more comfortable in the wider role.

We've always been quite streaky under Robinson, so let's just hope we can put a few decent results together now - Saturday would be a good start!!

Surprised how crap Moore was - his positioning and challenging are woeful. Clare is good going forward but continually targeted defensively. That defence is a mess and with Atkinson bow out it can only get worse. The MK 2nd goal was an embarrassment - who didn't he beat. And he doesn't want to sign defenders!
