Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Is that all he did though? I think many people remember things a little differently. It appears he shot himself in the foot when he left us because has done very little since and his career has plateaued. He doesn't deserve the chance to use us as a chance to revive his career.
I find this side of football culture incomprehensible - ooh a man made a gesture, so we hate him though we used to love him, or a man is rumoured to have said or done X that was nothing to do with football. It’s unlikely he’d want to come back as he’s moved on to a better club, but we should all be glad if he does.

Young kid angles for move to higher league and pretended to be ill while doing it. Is that the worst of his crimes or did he do something else that warrants life long banishment and hatred?

Exactly. He made a move to a bigger club in a higher division happen. It might not have been the classiest exit and it cost us cash in the end, but I can understand why a 20/21? year old would be desperate to make that transfer happen. Quadrupled his salary, became a better player and an established international. Any investment we made in him was paid back by helping us to promotion and becoming a million pound asset.

Is Maddison a much better player? Based on what?

COD has 121 Championship appearances, Maddison has 7.
Not that it will happen ‘But Surely you Can forgive a player who gave us so many games to remember him by, the skill, the urgency, the quality? i would play Anybody that would make the team better! Not judge them on his fathers antics!

...and by the way - has anyone ever shown any proof that he DIDN'T have a cold?
FWIW - even after the move, Bristol City didnt play him in their first two games as he "...was recovering from an illness...." according to their manager to their own website, and they would have no reason to perpetuate any such story if it affected their preparations negatively if it wasn't true would they?

Also, if I remember correctly, there was an issue over a payment that Darren Eales had promised him that was then withdrawn without reason, which probably did not help the attitude of the player towards the club at the time....

I've always found this petty grudge-holding against certain players, normally based on nothing more than heresay and internet tittle-tattle rather than actual knowledge pretty sad and pathetic to be honest, but none moreso than this one....unless he DID actually kill all those puppies

Before we do this all to death, is COD a realistic option anyway? He hasn't featured in a Bristol City squad all season so is he injured or frozen out? Either way he is no where near match fit which appears to be the criticism many are making of our recent transfer dealing! I know he was pushing for a move away from City previously and apparently had a bit of a sulk when this didn't happen. Will he be happy dropping down a league or are there wider attitude problems?

I appreciate that Marcus Maddison top trumps every one of these concerns, but the difference is that he may be hungry to prove a point. If COD had the same hunger then of course he's someone we should consider, but I'm not sure that'll be the case.

All talk of O'Dowda and Maddison is fanciful at best.

But entirely harmless and you can embrace the absurdity of the transfer window or fight against it! Either way, whether we are ITK or just randomly throwing names around to see what sticks, nothing that is said or done on here makes the blindest difference!

Too many people (many less obvious than you Kip) get too precious about all of this!! Sit back and enjoy, there is literally a million things more important to worry about in the world right now!!!

Anyway, forget about Leon Clarke, here comes Nathaniel Clyne!!!!

Like what for instance?

I remember the story at the time was I think that a payment hinged on whether he put in a transfer request or not.

Fair points there @mooro ..... one of the speculative rumours around the time apparrently involved a 'new' car for COD's agent/Dad as being one of the contibutory factors towards his developing a cold and subsequent sudden move to Brizzle City, didn't it?

Kemar Roofe was up a climbing rope on a military assault course two days before he was sold to Leeds. O’Dowda didn’t even show up, or report for friendly matches during the same period. This is the big difference for most people. It isn’t that you leave, it’s how you do it that people tend to remember.

The guy might be a bit of a pillock but you only need to read Kitson’s books to see that the combination of Mark Ashton and Mr O’Dowda isn’t one that seems to value honour or integrity. When you read about how his new deal at OUFC came about, it’s really no surprise that Ashton signing him for another club a year or so later took place, nor that it seemed to be a bit smelly and involved suggestions of people being dicked over.

Anyway, it doesn’t really matter now. I would rather he pull his finger out at Bristol and get sold for good money, so we get a very welcome kick back. We’ve got a defender or two to bring in.

I was wondering this, so checked on their website - he apparently played in pre-season for them, and then in the Nations League for the Republic (they say he got MOTM in one of them), but has not featured since for BCFC, with their match previews indicating that he is recovering from a groin strain
