Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

We’ve got over ten million quid of debt. Interesting to see a few people speculating about how other clubs might not survive, when Macclesfield just got wound up over a debt around one twentieth of ours.

We are very much dependent on our own sugar daddy / daddies, more so now than ever.

There h

There has been a problem with recruitment ever since Tiger joined. Hell it even took us months to get KR in. I know all the positive Pete’s on here don’t like it said but something isn’t right. Remember when KR said he wants to get things done early? We ended up doing the 1 in next week dance for months! It is not they way things need to be. But at the last fans forum I attended KR said it was sorted out. But it isn’t! Recruitment is a shambles! we have inadequate cover in areas as we found with Ruffles and Gorrin And as others have said we’ve let our creativity go (Browne, Fosu, Baptise, Holland) and not replaced them.

Bang on the money. I really hope that KR's comments this morning, about the youth, means he is softening everyone up for using one or two as cover instead of bringing in replacements. I know he said we still need to bring people in, but KR has a history of saying one thing then another thing happens.
This after such a damning interview on Saturday, when he said he couldn't get non league clubs to take a couple on loan. They are simply not ready. One or two may show promise, but non are ready to step up to the first team squad.

Jones does not drive and is living far enough away to make it difficult. He also has not progressed as Robinson hoped. At 18 he is not physically able to cope with league one and is therefore not going to fill the void. We need a center back this week. A leader a proper experienced guy. Nothing less will do.

... journyman croc at the end of their career incoming then?

Joel Lynch is still a free agent, I'd be surprised if he wasn't an option.

Don't start sobbing over Garbutt, he was decent but not a world beater and was obviously not bothered about joining us. He's neither fast nor a good defender, and we have plenty of players who deliver the ball well.
Do we? Who delivers the ball well? Our full backs are attrocious at crossing. Henry hasnt performed for 6 months. Brannagan maybe could be classed as decent.

Think you missed my point.

Forde, Sykes. Cooper put some good balls in against Watford but that was only one game.

Garbutt not signed - excellent - end that one

My thoughts on the transfer window and easy in hindsight but down to only a few crap decisions

Should never had offered contracts to Hall and Moius - both on good money I suspect
Henry - very hot and cold last year where lack of pace starting to affect his game- only one way to go - on good money - getting on - should have let go

If we had signed 3 new players using their monies I sure be in a better place right now.

Just how many of our Academy players are in reality likely to be ready to step up to the first team squad either now or in the forseeable future? Surely if our Academy recruitment and training is working we should be seeing at least one per season able to do so. If all we have is "one or two showing promise" is it not a reasonable question to ask whether having an Academy is a luxury we can't afford?

Putting aside Ruffels, Long and Baptiste who have already come through recently, and either established themselves and/or went for decent money and Napa (sans injury), Carroll, COD before them, I guess top of the breakthrough list for this season is Jack Stevens who is now a fully established senior squad member.
Then, even if Jones (18) has stalled for the moment, we have Lofthouse, still only 19 (I think) whose versatility may prove useful slotting into the lineup at various points.
Then come this summer's other graduates (ie. 18) - Lopes, Spasov, Elechi - and second year scholar (17) Ty Goodrham who have all already tasted the senior bench and will probably do so once again this year too, so the pipeline is there and is functioning well.
Don't forget COD (& Long) was probably the first one to come through from the Lenagan-revived system after FK had stripped everything back, so there was a lot of momentum needing to be restored
