Transfer News Transfer window 2020/21

Seems to me we have been in this position before

Last season v Peterborough at home I thought we were excellent ,lost at Blackpool a few days later v Burton we were outmuscled and outplayed we were then hopeless v Bristol Rovers ( Taylor’s first game I believe) very lucky to get a point v Cov and duly lost at Fleetwood
Soon after that things clicked and we were excellent and went on a great run
So many of the players we had then we still have ,the difference is that we had Cadden,Dickie,Fossu and Baptiste and we haven’t replaced them with players of the same calibre ,so far.
Atkinson and Cooper look promising and Winnall will be a welcome addition but we do need another centre half and we need real pace
When we do gel and have Gorrin back and Henry firing again we could easily go on another good run

Recruitment at this point is critical.

fighting for free agents is *largely a waste of time with everyone fishing in the same pond. As time passes and the transfer window nears closing, clubs have all the power for those players without a club. Players will have to drop demands and take what’s on offer.

Add this to the fact that brexit rules will limit anyone from overseas, meaning we will (most probably) only be able to recruit from within the UK and the market will be a mess for a club like us. The only way to find any edge is to recruit in the recruitment analyst space. We will have to get pretty creative!

Sensible clubs will be looking at 2021 contracts in the EFL and academies, paying money for players now, in advance before the situation changes. Players like Osei won’t be happening next year.

Im not sure how much clubs/agents/players realise how all of this will impact and come to a head.

I understand most of the Australian league will be on a free transfer in the next week or so - probably worth a look!

Ay

Australia? The cultural differences would be too great, surely

KR needs to get rid of his seemingly defeatist attitude, for example throwing Jones under the bus, negative comments about not being able to get players in, and realise we are in the same position as other teams. The difference being other teams got their recruitment done earlier allowing pre season to be a time for the players to gel. It's what he gets paid for. Stop wallowing in self pity.
Things need doing and they need doing this week:
Ship out the 3/4 players that are dead wood
Get in the players he knows he needs
Decide on a realistic alternative to the way we normally play. The whole league knows how we are going to set up.
Get rid of this notion of finger pointing that he alluded to on Saturday, and get back to being a tight unit.
Reflect on how the hell we always seem to get a hatful of injuries, rather than the odd one or two.

Then get them players playing with the self belief we used to have before Covid, and get us up that table, challenging at the right end. He is the man for the job.

Liberato Cacace of Wellington Phoenix would be worth a punt. 19 year old attacking full back who impressed when I saw them on BT Sport. And signing him wouldn't be a problem in this window as he has an Italian passport I think.

I keep seeing people say other clubs have got their signings in early. Could anyone enlighten me to who has got all their work done early?
The only teams I can see are Blackpool, Bristol Rovers and gillingham. All 3 weren’t involved in the play offs and knew as soon as the season was called off they would be in league 1. We didn’t know what league we would be playing in until 10pm 13th July.
Covid and the wage cap has also changed the playing field so yes it might take us longer to get players in but that is why the transfer window was extended so it gives clubs longer to get their teams together.

Just chucking a couple of names out there ——- Jordan Ibe released by Bournemouth —— Ryan shotton CB — a’marri bell LB Blackburn

Wouldn’t mind Marcus Maddison aswel on his day one of the best in league one

May I suggest that it's a little rich to question the defeatist attitude of others? Even Kip is a bundle of joy and hope compared to you!!!
