What does this quote mean as good as it gets at this level is that a striker like Ivan Toney or a striker like John marquis I don’t like these phrases as good as it gets because it give people a false sort of hope I mean he wants Ronaldo of league 1 but ends up with bambi of the championship ?

I did suggest Winnall a while ago.( total guesswork). He has a good record especially at league 1 Level. Would be happy with Winnall, Samuel or Grigg. We still need a left sided attacking player to cover for Cooper. Pace preferred but Garbutt would also be a decent acquisition.

but how can it be him if he is a free agent? KR said, or it was reported that we had tabled a bid for a striker who is as good as it gets at this level.
To be fair, out of contract players may still be subject to several "bids" from clubs offering contracts.

Equally a contracted player may be subject to loan fees etc rather than it being a sale.

oooh yeah never thought of it like that. Could be that we tabled a bit to his agent. Good shout.
anyway two eyes from wild James so I guess we find out soon.

Robinson does sometimes say stupid things. I’ll wait and see if I’m corrected but I agree, ‘as good as it gets at this level’ to me means this player has to be as good as Toney, Marquis or super Matty Taylor (or Jordan Rhodes who got an amazing 36 league one goals in 2011-12)

Strictly speaking you can put in a bid for a free agent, it’s just a contract offer rather than a fee

With Beckles due to be announced and the striker Robinson mentioned, the squad is looking top heavy.

Reckon Forde, Hanson, Napa, Jones and Lofthouse will be heading out with Forde and Hanson available on a permanent transfer.

An "ITK" on Blackburn's forum has heard Gorrin is signing for them next Wednesday:

I've not seen any new stories about the link since January so not sure how reliable it is

EDIT: Goes onto to say he doesn't think Gorrin is signing

The link says it's not him.

"I was given two separate pieces of info - the first being we’re due to sign a player on Wednesday morning that is Spanish, I shared it with a few other people to see if they had heard anything and the name I was given is Alex Gorrìn, Spanish defensive midfielder from Oxford.

I now don’t think Gorrìn is right... but I’m convinced there was something in the first bit of info I got."
