General The meeting Wednesday

I wish that was true @bazzer9461 but, FK can hike the price any time he likes. As for buying the Ozone, just not worthwhile. What would you do with it? It's all tied up with licences in the same manner as the stadium. To do anything with the stadium to improve capacity would involve a very, very expensive re-build. And just where would the club play while that went on? The stadium was never designed for real expansion, don't forget, FK only bought it to get his hands on the rest of the land and to have a bargaining chip with the local council. The original design is past it's sell by date and not fit for purpose.

I grant you that with the land south of Grenoble road looking almost nailed on for development and the proposed expansion of the science park with even the outside chance of a rail link makes the Ozone very attractive as land but, FK already owns it all and is not going to be generous towards OUFC. He doesn't need to, he doesn't need the money, he doesn't need to be liked and he is making a very nice living from the site without having to lift a finger.
Better that the board go to somewhere that is bare earth, start from scratch and build what the local community needs, a community stadium with access to all and a modern and functional multi purpose complex befitting the history of Oxford. (poetic licence that last bit! ? )
I thought I read somewhere the grounds value as to what it should be sold at was 13.5 million. As for a new ground there is no way we will get a new ground and unfortunately with that in mind the best we can ask for with the teams that will be in L1 next season will a @1 club flitting with relegation from tile to time. It now needs tiger and the board to step up and take a punt if the wage cap isn’t introduced and go for it regarding the players we need and getting OGB back round the table and not include the OCC as they don’t want football in Oxford

I have a funny feeling he will be gone, I hope I’m wrong but sounded to me like he knows he’s going to lose players and have a budget less than this season, not saying the board is wrong to do this with what’s going on at the moment, but it could cost us our manager, all really depends if teams have been putting out any tentative enquiries to him, because if they have I think he will keep his options open.

Two things though. One, he knows that we’re going through unprecedented times at the moment and that no club apart from the likes of Man City can make any promises at the moment regarding finances, and Two, surely he’s been party to the conversations regarding the plans going forward leading up to the play off final. Tiger has already spoken about the contingency plans depending on what league they were going to find themselves in. He must have already had a good idea of the clubs level of ‘ambition’

Which makes Robinsons comments after the final a bit baffling. Either he was just in an emotional mess and was sending out a defiant message that he was intending to come out all guns blazing next year and that was his way of expressing it, or, more worrying, it was a ‘come and get me’ plea to bigger clubs out there.

All this talk about KR leaving is premature. He has avery good thing going on at Oxford and he knows that. He has a long contract, he is allowed to run the club pretty much how he wants all the way through it. Would he get that at any other club in the current football climate? Probably not. He also hasn't actually achieved anything with us that would warrant a job in the championship. I'd say he would need to get us promoted to get a bigger deal else where.

KR is pretty good at self promotion. Think about all that PR around the Man City game - the paper articles, the BT sport piece...KR is good at managing his own stock and as such remains in the forefront of clubs minds when recruiting.

He has a strong history of developing youngsters, here he is showing he can basically lead the club, top down, right from the first team and through the academy...not to mention all the statements he made on behalf of the board when there was next to 0 communication.

He is on to a good thing here, much like with Appleton a decent stint of success will only further his own ambitions...the board need to match that. Whilst these re wild times, I think KR has been pretty understanding with the three players sold this year, he understands we need to sell, but must be equally hard when we have billionaires on the board.

Simply, if the boards ambitions don’t match that of KR, he will have plenty of opportunity to move on

One thing though, only guessing obviously, but Tiger does seem a pretty easy going fella. Can the same be said of Zaki and the other investors? How many public challenges and threats will they put up with before they call his bluff?

I have a feeling it was the latter to be honest. I think as a team they all have to learn, I like Robinson and he’s done wonders for our club but he got found out in the final and both legs of the semi’s IMO for not having a plan B, I really hope he stays and tries to develop another way of playing alongside this nice footballing stuff we play. If we had that this season I honestly think we would of got promotion. I think if you look at it in reflection, it was a good season, just he didn’t want to change things until it was too late, I have to say once I saw in the final that we were going to be playing 4-3-3 I feared the worst because we knew Wycombe were going to flood the midfield, as soon as we brought kelly on and he dropped in front of the back 4 to collect the ball and start the attacks, we looked so much more dangerous as Brannagan & Sykes were able to push much further forward, that’s what Robinson needs to learn from us losing. That’s just my opinion anyway.

To be fair to him, I think Robinson has been looking to go with a ‘quarterback’ in front of the back 4 for a long time, hence the perseverance with Thorne. It’ll be interesting to see if he can bring in a dominant, experienced midfield general this transfer window. That, along with a good CF and an experienced CB (if/when Dickie goes) are essential I think.

He didn’t jump when his stock was high at MK and has been in L1 as a manager ever since. After a playoff final and some high profile cup exploits he’s in the public eye again. He knows that. His public a**e wiggling in February and his constant public tensions with the board are the markings of a man who understands that football is all about tactics and timing, and knowing when and how to jump between platforms. He has to decide whether he twists where in the past he has stuck. He’s at a crossroads where his stock is relatively high.

All I would say is that people need to remember that they support Oxford United, not him or any other individual. Rate him, like him, hope he stays, do whatever you want. But don’t make the mistake of picking sides or getting too involved or invested in other people’s chess games. All players and all managers are ultimately in it for themselves and rightfully so - it is a brutal industry where nobody will look out for you other than yourself. Lose five games in a row and you can be unemployed where only a month earlier everything seemed steady and optimistic. That’s the nature of the beast. But supporters should always know what side of the bread they should butter, no matter what people do to convince them otherwise.

My advice to anyone and everyone: support the club, regardless of what happens with the manager, coaches or anyone else in the weeks ahead.
I agree with what you are saying about supporting the club. The only thing I would say, is Karl Robinson has been so much more than a football manager for us. He has been the main spokesman, been excellent off the pitch (as well as on it) he genuinely cares about the club and it's fans, is always honest and never ducks a situation or question. Plenty of managers would have walked out for much less than he has had to deal with in the last 2 years. We look certain to lose Dickie and Brannagan, which will be difficult. But to lose Robinson, that's a disaster.
