Heroes send off

Used to be a lot that would go drinking in the city! I can remember joining Paul Reece, Durnin (obviously), Dave Collins and Joey on a few occasions. Also Mark Druce and Paul Powell would often be out with some of the younger players. Not sure they did much to sell football to the wider Oxford public though!!!
Like Wow......

Back in the Manor days, didn’t the club own a house on Osler Rd or very close by?

Always used to see the same players walking down from that direction and often after the game in the Brit or Standard via the social club after the game.

There were club houses all over the place. I used to deliver Dean Saunders newspaper as a kid, with John Dreyer living there before him and, I think, Neil Slatter moving in after!

Matt Elliott also lived next door to my mate in a house owned by the club, but when he moved the house was sold.

I think the players will be making their own way rather than going in a team coach. I know that some live at Upper Heyford, and a few more in Bicester so maybe a few banners over the M40 might catch their eye.
Awesome. And would work whether they travel by coach or car ?
I would have thought , they would Be together on the coach , and I would hope the night before, it is a important game , after all!! Shocking if this not so...
Why shocking? The players are a tight unit and won't need an hour in a coach or the night in a different place to bond. I'd rather they had the same preparation that they've had for most games this season rather than trying to create something different.

On Radio Oxford they said that the squad etc travelled in two seperate coaches for the away leg at Portsmouth for social distancing reasons. So i would assume it would be the same for the final

David fogg used to live in the house next to the osler rd gates and ken fish lived by the bowls club

Anton Rogan used to live on Middle Way opposite where Bishop Kirk School stood. I know this because I once met him in the Park End Club and gave him a lift home. He didn't invite me in for a 'coffee' :coffee::whistle:(n)

I know Ford lives in Bicester. It’s weird how they all seem to gravitate to that area of the county rather than much nicer areas in the south and west of Oxfordshire. I suppose close links to the M40 (for the north and London) are part of the appeal.

There was the "yemi shops at Tesco" chant back in the conference days too...

Who are the players that live at Upper Heyford ? A random little village like that seems an odd place for a number of players to live in.
Massive redevelopment on the old airbase.
100’s of houses and gnats have been built .
Cheaper than Oxford, Witney etc

Appleton lived in Thame. When we were playing a home game he would almost always be in the gym at the Thame Leisure Centre early on a Saturday morning and would sometimes stop for a chat.

Thame? An hour in the Gym, then a 5 mile run around Lord Williams fields. Unless they have been sold off for housing of course.
