It will all come down to fitness and use of subs in the end. 2 very closely matched teams. Keeping arthritic at key moments.

Would start Forde, Kelly, Sykes on Monday. Woodburn a lost soul.

Browne has a lot of flair but also works extremely hard. Something to be said for playing him up top.

Mediocre commentary and punditry. The Rotherham manager offered up some decent analysis I guess.

Pompey are a good team and it was all about staying in the tie. After all the build-up I was worried we'd be 3-0 down at half time or something like that (a bit like happened to Fleetwood, who much have fancied their chances). The game passed by Woodburn who's been out for a long time. Sykes surely has to start on Monday. They were certainly targeting Long from the outset (which can make it seem like he's having a worse game than he is), but for the goal I thought he's correctly pushed the attacker to the goalline, Eastwood has to be disappointed. Likewise for our goal their goalie started moving the wrong way just before the shot, shouldn't be beaten at the near post from that distance.

Overall I think we probably dodged a bullet, could easily have been 3-1 to Pompey. I'll take it, roll on Monday!
yep agree - feels like we got away with one, hopefully we can step it up for the second leg - since can’t see us getting away with it a second time.

Big sigh of relief to come away with that result.

We have now done the sparring and hopefully learned a lot from that 1st leg.

It was so important not to have been out of the tie at this stage, so job done as far as I’m concerned.

Bring them back to the Kassam and run them through.

We showed glimpses of incisive attacking play pity Shandon is not still here. Didnt like Mackie coming on before Agyei there was one Browne break where it was crying out for a forward in the box and there was noone there just feel that agyei would have been there. Still reasonably confident about monday.
Totally agree with the Mackie Agyei comment.

Agree with all of that

Havent we drawn 4 times with portsmouth this season now? Better practice those pens for monday.

Long definitely started off looking very dodgy, even though I’d still argue that Eastwood was more at fault for their goal as the keeper has to keep out any low shot at his near post in that situation. However Long certainly came back well and pretty much handled Curtis the rest of the game, to the point that he was getting super frustrated. Long didn’t get much protection from Henry either so I think it’s harsh to criticise him too much. I also think it would be very dangerous to start Forde in place of him next match as there’s no telling that he’ll be able to handle Curtis at all, whereas Long has got the measure of him now hopefully

Sure I heard within the commentary that we had the 13th largest budget this year.

Love to know where they got that from and how accurate it is.
I heard that to. Mind they also said Jim Smith was our manager when we won the milk cup.

And also the classic line “Mackie is a natural goalscorer”, that coming a few minutes after he said that he hadn’t scored for 31games.

Lucky me. I had iFollow video and Radio Oxford commentators. Being banned to Europe does have some addvantages. Another is that Sky is not available here. But I'd like NOW tv, decent selection of channels to chose from.Pity, not available either.

Looking at the other match highlights, the Fleetwood keeper lost them that game. Every one of Wycombe's goals were easy saves. They obviously looked at our match and decided testing the keeper was the best tactic which worked. I think should we get to the final, some simple good defending and good reflexes from Eastwood will be enough to brush past Wycombe. We just need Long and Ruffles to be much more alert as at times tonight they allowed a man to get past them too easily. Some support from the wings would be helpful too. Get Eastwood practicing some high speed low saves.

The Fleetwood keeper gave a display that wouldn’t have looked out of place on a Sunday League pitch, by someone who’d been on the rip till 4:00 am, threw up before the game, needed a fag to keep him awake and had to borrow a pair of boots that were 3 sizes too big.
Wycombe did what they always do. Boot it up front and hope for the best. It worked, but Fleetwood have only themselves to blame.

It was from the agents fees published by the FA a couple of weeks ago and reported in lots of the sports press. Finishing 4th on 13th highest spend isn't bad, Sunderland spent 10x our spend.

I thought Curtis became a tad petulant with the thought he should get every decision and was ending up like a spoilt child not getting his way.
