Music

A bit of very early (1978ish) Simple Minds, perhaps they should re-release this...

I was supposed to be going to a gig tonight (ironically at the Deaf and Hard Of Hearing Centre). It’s been cancelled, presumably because of COVID-19 concerns. Also meant to be seeing Elvis Costello on Sunday at the New Theatre…
Did you win the lottery to afford Elvis Costello tickets ?

We are also due to see Elvis Costello on Sunday evening. (No I haven’t won the lottery, but yes the tickets are expensive!)
Mrs YR is a huge Elvis fan, she has seen him live at least 15 times, I like him but not that much! This will be the 8th time I’ve seen him.

Mrs YR is fretting big time that the gig might be cancelled!

First of many i think. I have a few smaller gigs pencilled in but i can see them all getting put off

I'm supposed to be going to a gig in London on 18th April. Don't think that's going to happen unfortunately.

Great time for everyone to get those guitars out of the cupboard, dust off the kids' crappy keyboard and get making some music!

My guitar is sat there looking at me ?, haven't touched it in months. If I'm confined to the house for a few weeks, I think I'd be at more danger from Mrs M if I picked it up than from any virus ? ?

Doesn't she like Stairway to Heaven then?

I have put my acoustic guitar in the cupboard so that it doesn’t sit in the corner looking at me.

Elbow tendonitis in my fretting arm sadly became too painful to continue playing.

I only ever played for pleasure at home, but it’s very, very frustrating!

Re-string it left-handed?

Re-string it left-handed?

I’d like to think I could, but I know I’d struggle with that, trying to teach an old dog new tricks.....

However it reminded about Steve Ashley, folk/blues singer songwriter who I saw a few years ago. He played a right handed guitar left handed without changing the strings. So he was effectively playing upside down.

Very fine guitar player.

Re The HU.

If anyone is interested in investigating more Tuvan throat singing / rock crossover stuff, do a YouTube search for Yat-Kha. They range from sort of folky stuff to sort of rock stuff.

Further down the rabbit hole, have a listen to DakhaBrakha -

3 gigs in the near future cancelled today. Disappointed but life moves on there's far more important things to worry about at the moment
