Manager/Coach Karl Robinson - Will he walk

It looks like the iFollow interview with Robinson clears things up a lot more than what we've seen so far. He spoke about it being easier to keep everyone together if we're successful, and how we have a tight team, but also how there needs to be more focus on what we're trying to achieve. I doubt anything will change between now and the summer, and where and how we finish this season may be significant.

I’m convinced that the key to this whole saga is not so much the sale of Baptiste & Fosu but the timing of it, & the failure to reinvest some of the proceeds from those sales for a fullback and striker.

Whether it was just circumstances, bad luck, or poor planning we as fans can only surmise, but it’s created the situation we’re at today.

Everything else is just white noise and hot air.

Exactly. Theres nothing more or less to it than commitments were made to go for it and show ambition, we certainly did for a while (Taylor, Browne, Gorrin etc) then something changed and were looking at players almost paying subs to play for us (Thorne) whilst selling out second highest scorer and best young prospect.

It was coming with the "i want Will Grigg" piece the day before deadline day.

Although Robbo has acted like an a**e (and im not his biggest fan in any case) - i truly understand his frustration here. Managers careers hinge on promotion and relegation and unfortunately i (and Robbo) likely believe he wasnt properly supported as promised.

Absolutely agree and I am far from taken with the board’s choices in January - I think they’ve got plenty to answer for. But the way he’s gone about things in recent weeks, culminating in a pretty shameful last few days where he’s put himself in the middle of everything and suggested he might shack up with another club, which he’s been doing publicly while the team is battling and needs stability, has not been the behaviour of somebody who wants to be seen as a committed leader. It’s been bad management and he’s let himself down. Everybody already feels for him - yes, even me on a footballing level - because they can see January clearly wasn’t what it should’ve been. He already won in that regard. But sure enough, his mouth and his ego have gone wild and now he’s spent days and weeks acting like a spoilt brat with a sense of entitlement, and showing that ultimately it isn’t about the greater good with him, it’s about attention and wanting his way. Don’t spend ages positioning yourself as the brilliant and principled guy who believes in the old one team, one dream mantra, unless you can make damn sure that mask doesn’t slip. He lost any high ground he occupied with the way he went about all this, and I’m quite shocked that people (not you) who have lambasted others in the past for apparently not supporting the club well enough, or blindly enough, are seemingly happy to side with a man who from the looks of it isn’t overly interested in being here much longer, and who is putting himself in the middle of everything when the team is scrapping to achieve something, and yet he’s more worried about throwing his tits about to make sure his name is in the news. Anybody who supports Oxford United Football Club should be disappointed in his methods here.

I will never stop saying it - Appleton showed that you can be disillusioned with where things are going and disappointed that your ambitions don’t seem to be matching up with your employers, and that you can even have one eye on the exit as a result, but that you can still quietly get on with your job and conduct yourself with dignity and respect.

The realisation that resolving the ground situation was going to take much longer and cost a great deal more than they had anticipated perhaps?

Swindons statement also didnt have a magical quote from their manager either, guess that means he wanted to go as well!?

Why do people keep conveniently forgetting we signed kelly, holland and browne this Jan window - All good signings. Yes, loans, but again as is conveniently forgotten, loans cost money in wages. Often a lot.

It’s the way it has played out that has frustrated people, you can’t make a profit on a loan player btw if you get my meaning plus the timing was awful

I would be surprised if were paying much for the above wage wise. Game time was key, and Boro just wanting rid of Browne.

Robbo has already stated we made the lowest offer for Holland.

This is all speculative BS. Managers come and go, and they all say what they think needs to be said to further their own positions. It's easy to say, "The board aren't showing enough ambition for me" because the manager doesn't have to put his money where his mouth is and he knows the fans will agree, because fans always want unreasonable amounts of money spent.

If we get to the play-offs (and even go up, maybe) then Robinson can go and good luck to him. The important thing is just to keep him till the end of this season. Even if we don't get to the play-offs, then who cares if he goes? We just get someone else in and the whole circus starts all over again. Just let them get on with it, I say.
