General Rob Dickie & Elliott Moore

£5 Million starting for Dickie, board would be taking the P**s if he goes for anything less..
Prem clubs get plenty of money they can bloody pay..

If the club tries to ask for that sort of money Dickie will probably be advised by his agent to just run his contract down. It’ll then just end up being a ‘first one to blink’ scenario until he’s out the door. Unfortunately, with where the club is at financially at this time, I dont think its in a position to offer anything that will make him want to stay beyond his present deal. Hes kind of outgrown us now.

I think Dickie will tell his agent to f off if he suggests that. ??‍♂️

Appreciate what your saying, but with our strategy of selling to balance the books (I'm not knocking it) surely you have to make a stand or the teams higher up the pyramid are just going to keep taken us for a ride.

At what point do you stop the bully's taking your sweets without a fight?

Just saying..

I think in these situations, when you get within 12 months of a contract running out, the power all lies with the player.

I think Dickie would not want to do that, he knows that OUFC have done right by him and he has shown that he is grateful by his performances and the way he conducts himself. He will get his move but will not want to do it in that way. IMO

Just run down your contract and get a nice juicy signing on fee. More money in the players pocket. Lovely stuff.

Think we should just have a 12 month policy if a player won’t sign we cash in
Indeed. There is clearly a reason he only signed a one year extension in the first place. I think it’s blindingly obvious that it was a pretty open case of “Get promoted and we’ll see, but if not then you get a bit of cash for me and I did right by everyone without losing too much time.”

It isn’t a conspiracy, it’s just bloody obvious!

It wasnt that long ago no one would want any OUFC players at all and most would leave on a free at the end of the season. I for one enjoy watching these good young players while we have them. Our club continures to grow even when they are sold
Liking your positive outlook @WokinghamYellow .... I genuinely wish I felt the same, but I am a bitter, old cynic, .... that said, I agree it is enjoyable watching exciting young players honing their skills and talents for the U's :),.... even though the board will look to cash in on em sooner (probably) rather than later :cautious:

Better than some old cloggers who come on a free transfer as they wind down their career like under Atkins, Talbot or (in our League 2 days) Wilder

Of course you then risk a major injury/Jamie Brooks scenario.
