Oxford v Leeds 1984/85

I believe the ticket price for the 5th Round Blackburn Cup Tie in 1964 was 5 shillings. In todays money about £3.75. The Newcastle ticket price is £5 which seems rather a lot. Would be happy if it was around the £3 mark:ROFLMAO:

Us also! We made many a profit throwing 2 pences at them and getting 50 pences thrown back ?

I must have had too much money - I threw everything back! I remember Man City throwing sharpened 50 pences. They went back too.

Great thread this love hearing about our glory days I think my 1st game was 1990 ish but was definately a 0-0 v newcastle got me hooked.
What I have always wondered about and noone seems to talk about is the relegation from the top flight and why we didnt come back up the 1st season down. I know we lost some of our best players and believe Maxwell screwed us by owning derby as well? And left us with debt when he died? Be interestested to hear what went wrong from those who remember.

Dean Saunders going to Derby and Mark Lawrenson subsequently leaving as a result.

I remember the Thames Valley Royals debacle, the man was deluded thinking we could ever unite with Reading. However to his credit I also remember him in the middle of the LRT trying to stop the OB from nicking us against Pompey!

Leeds fans took it really badly that day. ?
As I remember it, the whole game changed on our first goal.
We came out and gave them a thrashing second half.
After the game, there were (unsurprisingly) a few disagreements. ?
As we came out onto the London rd, we could see some trouble kicking off around the corner of Osler Rd, but that was truly only One of many great games in the London rd - Right side of course.??
