Championship Derby in trouble

They tried to avoid it, but got caught selling their ground to their owner for a vastly over-inflated price. Villa did the same, but are in the Premier League, so currently out of jurisdiction.
Phew - thought for a moment it was hair restoration surgery commitments for Rooney

The pursuit of the Trough of Greed. Football needs to follow Rugby`s example and hit them hard. They`ll learn.

Take Saracens for example, first hit 35 points deduction and, because they have failed to prove they aren`t still cheating this season, its now automatic relegation.

Shows you that the Clubs are bigger than the EFL.

Clubs should be punished!

The problem is, the vote on matters for EFL is the club's themselves. And they are not going to vote to limit themselves

The problem is it’s all corrupt in Lower leagues for example bury get chucked out and Bolton just get a warning and point deduction they should have been chucked out aswel they didn’t even REALLY get in trouble for refusing to play matches where as Macclesfield got a point deduction and fines if my memory is right

Slap on the wrist......................... unless the EFL appeal (they won`t).

"However, the English Football League has the option to appeal against the verdict and may call for a points deduction - which could see the Rams relegated from the Championship.
The EFL said in a statement on Wednesday that, pending any appeal, it had developed an interchangeable fixture list for next season for Derby and Wycombe Wanderers, while the disciplinary process is finalised."

If they do they have to go down as the jammiest team on the planet after getting promoted from mid table the year before...

Easy to do as well. Just give Wycombe Derby’s fixtures and visa versa.

Fixtures are released in just over half an hour.

The article says that the fixture list was set up to make the two interchangeable.

Who really thinks the EFL will appeal?

EFL meeting will just accept they have been punished, leave Derby with the "bigger boys" and cash the cheque.... or just ask for more.

Is it not down to Derby to prove something different from the already placed accounts in order to stay up?

Got no wish to defend Wycombe, but this is a ludicrous situation. How the hell are they supposed to properly plan / budget for next season, which kicks off in just over 6 weeks, when they don't know whether they'll be up against Morecambe and Accrington Stanley or Sheffield United and Fulham next season?

With EFL admin, (the 9 ringwraiths), who knows which way they'll go, or what decision they'll take, if any?

logically, if Derby are deemed to require more punishment on top of the fine, as in a points deduction, start the coming season (in the championship) on -12 or -15 points, or whatever is thought to be appropriate, makes sense... though sense & EFL ( admin)don't go seem to go together very well

More pressing IMO, from EFL admin, is an official decision/ announcement regarding exactly what the squad caps are for L1 & L2 clubs for the forthcoming season
