No rent on the training ground was a surprise to me ( had I missed this before?)
That sounds like a really good deal.

Yep good news that as it shows both Oxford City council and county council are atleast trying to help us a little bit. We just pay for the upkeep and can adapt it with permission. Now if we had the same deal on a stadium we could really progress.

The stadium position was less positive from the OM feeds? Bigalan/ Sarge?
It appears that Zaki and Niall were suggesting that the key thing is to have income from the stadium ( even if the Kasdam). Zaki before has said that a key thing is for the club to have their assets when discussing the Stadium.
I am not sure that Mr Kassam will want the club to have a better lease

There keeping tight lipped on the stadium issue so I wouldn't read too much in to that. What did go through my head earlier though was once the lease runs out. What would happen if we decided to do a Coventry and ground share. Wouldn't kassam be stuck with a stadium he could not knock down as doesnt it have a condition imposed that it is a community asset for leisure (not sure on exact wording) maybe just maybe this is why he has started to be Mr nice guy in the last few weeks.

That wouldn't happen. Ground share and lose a lot of the support and ruineverything that the club us trying to do? See Coventry City.
The Council are not going to want an empty stadium not bring used when there is a shortage of land for houses

Good point but I dont think the club would be allowed to do that? I think the agreement as it stands works both ways and, as such, the club are obliged to play at the stadium under the existing terms of the lease. Zaki reiterated again this evening about being very aware of the timescale, as the terms of the existing lease automatically renews under the same conditions as things stand.

Didn't realise the lease automatically renews for another 25 years. ? New stadium it is then unless kassam going to gift it us of course ?

I dont think that it automatically renews.
The club have an option to renew for a further 25 years at the current rate if it chooses I believe.

What I love about KR - apart from the football that we've played at times this season - is that he's honest and he's pragmatic. He understand where we are as a club, and he doesn't sound like a manager who's about to put us in danger by going on a colossal spending spree.

"Columbus wanted £1m for Chris Cadden. Come on, that's absolutely crazy. So it's dead in the water. I'm not going to pay that."
"I don't want to spend £1m in January, it would impact the next season.....I could spend a lot in January, get a promotion and then get a move. But it would leave the club in debt."
"We don't want to stand in the way of a young player. If we did, I wouldn't be able to get the next one because they'd think the club was selfish with their development."

Not necessarily the sort of comments that most fans want to hear - but absolutely what is best for the long-term future of the club.

And he's building a damn good team regardless.

That sounds better. Atleast if it comes to it we can try for a better lease that won't limit what time we're allowed in to the stadium on match days, hosting events and in charge of the catering.

Yes but why would Kassam agree to that?
He can say that we have to renew for 25 years on the current terms or leave?
I cant see why he would agree to us having better terms?

Because if we leave. He won't get planning permission for years on the stadium, so it will be Sat empty costing him money. I know you said Oxford needs housing but there is a charge on the stadium that it has to stay a community asset. That's like having a listed building and trying to get permission on it. Of course the board will know more about this in detail than you and I would.

Kassam probably looked at the speedway, dog track as an example of how difficult it's going to be to build houses on it.
