Potential New Ground

Yes but perhaps FK also knew that Nick Merry didn't actually have the funds...…..and sorry, NM offered him £13m when he knew it was only worth £8m, says a lot about why he's no longer in any serious business venture (that I know of!)
Nick merry didn’t have the funds but if I remember rightly Lenagon was the main financial backer. If your offered 13 million for the stadium you wouldn’t reject it because you “think” someone don’t have the funds there’s contracts and legal things that would take care of that.

Not sure if its already been mentioned. KR‘s Ifollow interview on Fiday struck me as quite interesting. He was talking about the kassam stadium and the lack of a connection between it and the supporters compared to the manor. I cant remember his exact words but he then went on and said something about the situation if a new stadium was built at “Kidlington” before, almost as if he’d given too much away, went on to immediately add a few more random places in Oxfordshire “or.. Abingdon, or the city centre..” Maybe Im reading far too much in to it but it pricked my interest that the first place he mentioned was Kidlington..

You're reading too much into it.

So, buying the stadium is not viable according to some, the investors have not committed to anything on the new stadium front.
Where does that leave us?

So many interesting views/thoughts on this thread, some of which may, or may not, reflect the clubs direction of travel with regard to ‘stadium’.

There are most likely a variety of different plans and ideas being considered by those that can actually make things happen. It would certainly make sense for the clubs owners to keep all options open.

It would be fascinating to get Club representative(s), OxVox, Local Councillors, and those who might be able to add value on the subject, in the same room to discuss the stadium subject and share their thoughts on the potential options?

Maybe an open meeting? As a representative of The Community Trust, I’d love to be involved!

Just a thought!

Cheers

Jem

Maybe Karl heard the 5 minutes fan forum that was aired Thursday with Niall. Where a question was asked if there was any truth in the rumour of building a stadium between peartree and Kidlington?

Was there an answer of sorts?

Just as a thought how about having leisure facilities separate to the stadium. For example if we bought the ground we are at now and finished(east stand) it and improved things that need to be done including facilities(west stand) in and outside on match day eg fanzine etc which would help make the stadium 7 day a week usage.
Could land say Oxpens or Northern Gateway be used as leisure facilities. I believe it was said on the 5 minute forum the stadium either new or present will help fund the club and the leisure facilities will be the payback for the owners.

Thanks for that.

To be honest he is hardly going to say yes we are going to build there, when we are still at the early stages as it could compromise the deal. He did say there is land for sale for a stadium in Oxfordshire but the location has to make sense and for efl rules. Sounds to me like there is a quite a bit of work going on in the background, including kassam letting us train on the pitch, put us up in the hotel. Maybe kassam wants in on the act in developing more land elsewhere too. ?

I have read it and I did state bring facilities/ improve up to date. I have always maintained we would be better off moving but Bristol City did it so why couldn’t we if that is an option.

I think that Bristol City owned their ground..
The club seem to be clearly looking at a new site. I am not sure that the Council will give the club land for leisure facilities nowhere near the ground?
