Any mechanics able to help with a question? Since our service, our car seems to jerk when in 2nd gear doing 20MPH It also does it in higher gears, again, didn't before. What could this be?

Do have a manual gearbox in your Rolls-Royce? That's a very expensive options.

Check air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs (assuming its petrol not Diesel)etc - replace if required

also moisture inside the distributor cap can be a problem in autumn/ winter, check, ensure its moisture free & a squirt of wd40

What sort of car you got? Make & model please.

View attachment 2387Astra, just seen a light come up, will take to garage.
Engine management, probably mechanic didn't reset when carrying out the diagnosis. Orange light at the top is indicating ABS off. I believe that the ECU and ABS are linked on the Astra. Might be a sensor, probably needs a reset post service. Should be done at no cost.

Would be grateful for some help.

Bought a car (Range Rover sport) in October and it’s finally warm enough for me to notice the Aircon isn’t working.

Took it in last week and they did a diagnostic and they said the Freon was low. They said they couldn’t see a leak but doesn’t mean there isn’t one. They replaced the Freon levels for $550.

It ran cold for a few days then yesterday was warm again. One side was cooler than the other but even the cool side of the car was tepid air at best.

Took it in again this morning and they’re saying that they’ve done another diagnostic and it’s probably the evaporator that needs replacing .

Couple of questions :

1. Why wouldn’t they spot that first time?

2. Does that sound like a likely event if the cold air did work for three days?

Maybe the new gas caused an already failing evaporator to cease working through additional workload?

Aside from that, in the good old UK Range Rovers are getting nicked so fast you either can't insure them or get the parts to repair them if they get found.

Cut a hole in the rear tailgate or pick the door lock, plug in to the obd, link a key and its gone. Average is about 2 minutes.

How can they do a diagnostic check and say it’s probably something.
Normally with air con you put a dye in the system and find the leak with an ultra violet light.
On our system we do a gas evacuation then a vacuum check and it won’t refill the gas until the leak is found.
On newer machines they fill the system with nitrogen to pressurise it so you can hear a leak a bit like a puncture in a tyre, not sure how they can say it’s probably something, an evaporator won’t be cheap on a RR and if it’s not that it could be the compressor which will be even dearer.
