What I have seem of Manure on MOTD is absolute rubbish.
I like my iFollow, good football, good commentary, good price. We can do without their sort of fans.

Can’t believe that anyone has been anything less than right royally entertained this season.
In fact, no team in the whole of the football league has scored more goals than us this season.
We have played some superb passing and attacking football.
Forget the Premiershite, we are the entertainers.

Well, not LondonRoader for a start. Admit you want to miss games - then claim “there’s something missing.”?! We’re happy without the negative “fans” thanks. Go and watch your premiership ponces on TV then. You won’t be missed.
To be fair , LR as been going to games for a very long time , and I think what he means , what is missing is the passion the atmosphere of the old London Road.

But that's the issue with modern grounds, and the fact that many of us are much older now! Most fans under 35 or so would never have really experienced the London Road.

Football might be a little sanitised since those days, but we can't do a huge amount about that. We might as well moan about players in fancy coloured boots, or with tattoos and silly haircuts!!!

I think you are missing the point, we are not going because the football is good or bad, we have lost our affiliation with the club, lost the passion, we go because it’s a social event where we can all meet and as friends enjoy each other’s company, yes we like watching good football but that along will not encourage us as a group to be there every home game, I’ve seen more midweek games than Saturday games, I go to be with my mates and get away from the plastic prem football, some might disagree but I still think there’s something missing around the club at the moment.
With respect, I think it's you and your friends who are missing the point.

A true fan would never lose their affiliation with, or passion for their club, regardless of the standard of football, the league we're in, the size of the crowds or the atmosphere, they spend their hard earned money each year on season tickets because they want to go to every game to watch the team they support, and while it is nice to have friends to go with, I'm sure many, many fans would happily go on their own, as I have myself many times.

I remember the ups and downs of the late 80's, the 90's, the awful years in the conference, the Wembley promotion, the boring, uninspiring years in league two, then the promotion season from league two, two Wembley appearances, an eighth place finish in league one, and the uncertain start to tigers reign, right through to the exciting, free scoring form of this season, and the exciting ambition of the club nowadays, and at no point have I lost my affiliation with, or my passion for the club, regardless of ANYTHING on or off the pitch, good or bad, and I'm afraid it's the conditional, inconsistent support from "fans" who feel they need a reason to come and watch the team they claim to support, that are one of the reasons why the crowds aren't big enough on a consistent basis.

We're playing the best football we have for years, and have genuine ambition of reaching the championship, we're taking control of our training facility, and making real progress with regards to finally sorting our stadium issues, yet still people find things to complain about, rather than just enjoy this very exciting and positive period we currently find ourselves in.

After the stick Tiger and KR has had they deserve so much praise now. Does anybody still think Tiger is only here for potential profit in the future?

It’s strange that people would turn on a London Roader for saying how he feels. He’s clearly a very loyal fan. And it’s clearly not just him or we would be getting the bigger crowds we all dream of.

so rather than berate him for saying his reality, how about recognizing this is a reality that exists and talk about how we are going to go go about solving it.

I find the comments about “we don’t want part time fans” particularly disappointing. Surely that’s exactly who we want if we have any ambition to not share a league with wycombe a Accrington and Fleetwood

Ten years ago this week we were drawing at Barrow in the CONference wilderness. Getting back to the FL was
incredibly difficult and people moaned a lot.

Fast forward a decade and the club is just outside the L1 play-off positions and playing a brand of
attractive attacking football with goals a-plenty.

Some will never be happy - there will always be those who will look for all sorts of angles and agendas.
If that “some fans will never be happy” dig is about me, put the brain in gear and wonder why people are moaning because people are not turning up to watch the fantastic football in view, just because I’m willing to put my opinion on this thread don’t try and make people a scape goat for all the other fans who haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, this is about the big picture I put my personal view.

Unfortunately for you reading is not your strong point, I suggested IF I wanted to just watch good football then I would watch TV, It’s not just about the football on offer,.
I won’t be missed as I have brought my ST so it’s not my money the club are chasing.

Some fans will drift away as they get older for various reasons, be strange if that never happened, our problem has been not replacing them. Football has an ageing fan base in an era where there is so much to compete against, the problem isn’t just Oxford Uniteds bit the whole of the professional games.

It’s fine giving cheap tickets to families/kids but do these kids carry on going in any great numbers once they reach an age where they should be going with mates? I don’t see it and it’s not reflected in the demographics at games. Football spectating has become a pastime for old men and families, that has been reflected in a drop in trouble but a drop in atmospheres at grounds across the country.

In trying to pacify football crowds they effectively massively lowered the amount of late teenage to early thirties groups of men who attend, whether those people will start attending once they get older is up in the air, but I doubt it will be in a large enough number to replace the older fans who stop going.

I have been watching the team for 45 plus years, have worked and helped the club out of my own pocket, I think I’ve reached an age where I can make my own mind up what I think, but again you still haven’t seen the big picture why the attendances are not fitting for the quality of football, I put my opinion and I’m willing to debate.

Here here. I've read the thread. LondonRoader has posted some valid thoughts. Others might not agree, fair enough, but to challenge his loyalty to the club is baffling. Never mind 'some will always criticise', what's more worrying on a discussion forum is that 'some will always object to criticism'.

As soon as allseater stadiums became the norm the atmosphere of stadiums dropped due to the reduced ability for groups to group together. But don't forget the safety drastically improved. Be interesting to see how Liverpool plan there new stadium with safety relative to atmosphere.

The highest finish we've had in the last 20 years ago was 8th in league 1 at the end of MApp's last season. We are currently in the same position with momentum to go higher.
What else would you like around the club to make this experience better?
If I had the definitive answer to that question I would say, I personally think keeping the squad together past the January window, pushing for the playoffs will get the crowds up, get some stability in the club off the pitch, get a resolution to this continual merry go round of will we stay will we find a new stadium, try to get the missing fans back on board we are not the only ones not turning up each week.

Yes, I’m happy to put my view on here and realise there are a multitude of differing opinions on here, but if it helps raise the issue and make people put some thought into what that situation entails I’m fine, there is an obvious issue with attendances at the moment but maybe it’s a bit to early to be asking why, if the team keep going in the right direction the fans will turn up but I think the jan window is crucial for the club to get right.

Nope still only 2 as they spent more time talking about the reading manager

Since they've moved this area's football/sport highlights to the sport at the end, it has gone to pot. The sport part now pretty much only really covers to Bournemouth/Southampton/Portsmouth with lip service to others so now I don't bother watching.

Keeping the squad together in January may or may not happen, but unfortunately it may not be something the board can ever guarantee. Brannagan, for example, has been getting a lot of attention. He came to us with a lot of potential but having only played a handful of games. He is now showing that he is a very good player and my attract interest from the top end of the Championship, or possibly even the PL. Everton are looking pretty desperate right now, so who's to say that they don't come in with a bid upwards of £5m in January. It would be hard not to give Brannagan the opportunity to move, and would bring in a huge wedge of cash for a club losing money. Some would see that as selling out, others recognising that it is our business model.

Of course results are also important. We will likely slip up at times, but need to stay consistently in the top 10 or better to keep that interest up. However, we've had a fairly good record over the last 12 months or so, especially at home. Is it 2 home defeats in 2019? Surely that must count for something?

And for the stadium, we have been told that there will definitely be news before the end of the season. Now, I appreciate that many won't believe this until everything is out on the public domain, but again progress on the training ground and youth set up must give a little credibility to what the board are aiming for?

Ultimately it is your choice whether you come or not, but I think things are slightly more positive than the picture you paint.
