I thought last season Doncaster were a decent team with a very good striker (Marquis). This season the are just a decent enough team. We only the other hand look a very good side. Playoffs surely have to be the aim now

Donny also had Mallik Wilks last season who was on loan from Leeds (now at Barnsley) but the loss of Marquis was huge.

Regarding Marquis I think the Pompey faithful look upon him as a waste of money, and with the money donny got for him that not much of a loss to them

On Henry’s goal, it was definitely a deflection although it doesn’t look like it on the footage.

Lets get Henry’s contract tied up sharpish! On this form we’re going to get a lot of competition for him.

Just watched Quest. Sam Parkin is a Scummy knob. But that might just be the beer talking

At least he recognises the rivalry and clearly means it, even after leaving a club, with his last comment. Some footballers only play along when at a club (I accept it is only a job etc for them) but I suspect the likes of Chris Maguire will be like Sam Parkin in that regard. Oh and Sam Parkin is indeed a Scummy knob.

Mousinho has cut out the silly passing and indecision in his area too. Not sure if it’s coaching or benefiting from the absence of the dominant Nelson

The common denominator for me seems to be Nelson. Nelson is without doubt a very good player but both Mous and Dickie look so much more comfortable and confident not playing alongside him.

I would say the common denominator is the quality of the holding midfield player.

Last season we improved dramatically when Mousinho played in front of the back four and then improved further still with Kashi in there. This season it’s Gorrin making the difference.

The central defenders last season were getting a lot of criticism at the beginning of the season whether it was Nelson, Dickie or Mousinho playing there. I’m my view we didn’t suddenly improve because Mousinho was removed from the back 4, it was much more because he strengthened and knew how to play the defensive midfielder role.

And Henry said on the radio it did indeed get a deflection.
[/yeah definitely deflected, not sure the goalie would have got it anyway.
What is noticeable this season is the blocks we are getting on shots, late in the second half I think it was dickie who headed a ball out of our penalty area at knee height, real commitment, and the defending at corners is so much better.
I think we’ve got something special here.

How many Plymouth were at that game? I would hazard a guess more than Donny brought yesterday.

Over 1000 but the figure I gave was home fans at the game. The total crowd was over 7000 vs Plymouth last season.
