Yes you would think so but apparently he was about to join some tin pot lower league Dutch club but it fell through. I guess these guys need to ask themselves do I want to play football or sit about posting on Twitter and insta.
Personally i’d Take a pay cut and drop a couple of divisions to prove myself and maybe get a bigger club at the end of the season. At the very least they’d be earning a bit and still playing.
My only concern is why haven’t they got clubs? As KR intimated we don’t want no big time Charlie or ‘personality’ upsetting the dressing room.
Well, I think for some of these guys, you've probably answered your question already. It's money, money, money.
If you're a guy who's played for Premiership or rich Championship clubs for a long time - someone like a Joe Ledley - then you've probably been earning 25k a week for years. But there's only so many spots at so many clubs for players at that wage, and those were all filled up over the summer
A League One club comes an offers you a job for 3k a week - and you know it's going to be just as much hard work and effort, just for an order of magnitude less money.....I can see why, if you're thinking $s rather than football, you might think "OK, I'll just keep training with Cardiff and maintain my fitness, and hope that there's an injury crisis somewhere so I can get a contract on the sort of wages I'm used to"
Sign a deal with us - even if it's only until January - and you're ruling yourself out of that kind of payday in the short term.
And it's pretty rare for a 32 year old to drop a division and then go back up in the future.....so you're likely accepting that those kind of paydays are gone for good.....might be something you want to put off as long as possible if there's massive mortgage payments coming up...….
