General Josh Ruffels

My mom for Saturday, I know you can’t take it off Henry but, great player and a managers dream.

Ruffels, in my opinion, is at least on a par with Robinson. Longevity doesn’t - or shouldn’t come into it. I think Ruffels is better technically, far superior aerially and links better with those ahead of him. In fairness to Robinson he probably edges it as having a better defensive mindset. Close call but Ruffels for me.

He’s also fitter than a butchers dog. Runs his ass off every single game. I’d love to see one of those stat things they do with the tracker they all wear now.

Although Robbo played seven of his ten Oxford seasons in the second tier.......
And one of his three seasons in the third tier was the 95/96 side that I still rank as the greatest side I've had the pleasure to watch (started going to games in the early 90s).

I suspect Ruffels could cope a division higher, but it's certainly unproven. Let's hope he gets the chance with us!

Would people generally agree Ruffs will go down as an Oxford 'legend'?
Depends how long he stays because right now no, players like Clarke and Jake Wright are normally agreed to be short of legend status and both played more games as bigger parts of promotion teams

Wasn’t there there rumoured interest from Millwall in the summer in Ruffels?

He looks perfectly capable in League 1. I think he could play a division higher.

I never realised Josh's middle names are "Andrew Bernard".

Anyone that's watched The Office will understand.

average at best. Would get his pants pulled down in the championship in my opinion.

Can’t believe people are even discussing Ruffles as a legend. Maybe local boy status is clouding the judgement.

Jake Wright achieved two promotions with us, one as captain. Ruffles has been very much a squad player during his time here until recently making the leftback slot his own

I think to be a legend you need to have had some iconic moments in the shirt, and he’s quietly beginning to accumulate them. His goal against Wycombe last year was unreal, and arguably the goal that sealed our survival. Never seems to get spoken about as much as Mackie’s v Bradford but it was even better imo.

What I will say is that Robinson played largely at a higher level. Ruffs is not quite there yet, although I can see him becoming our longest serving player. Never gets injured and not high profile enough to get that big move. Legend in the making!
