I understand what you’re saying, but it’s all relative. If everybody took the approach of “things used to be worse than they are now so don’t worry about it” then nobody would ever strive to improve, and would actually be more likely to let things slide. There’s a fine line between appreciation and complacency. I’m sure most of us are glad to not see us getting beaten by Histon, Lewes and Droylsden anymore, but I’m not sure that warrants a finger wagging every time anybody goes, “Well this one point from the last 15 lark is a bit crap, for the second season running. I’d really like us to play a bit better and not end up in another unnecessary season long survival battle.”

And anyway, I won’t hear a bad word against Phil ‘The Power’ Trainer. That free kick was utterly sensational. We could only dream of technique like that in our current squad.
 
I forget to add names such as Diaz, Mike Salmon, Neil McGowan, Buckley-Ricketts, Xemi, Smith-Brown and Gino Van Kessell!

David Kemp's entire 'team', especially the fat centre half who waddled around trying (and failing) to kick people. McGuckin?

He is now in charge of developing the youth footballers at Hartlepool. Looks like Hartlepool won't be having any youth team players worth selling on for a while.

Both centre halves in that team (McGuckin and Lee Jarman) fit that description. Both had turning circles of an Oil tanker.

I saw Tiendalli make his debut at Fleetwood. Wrote on the forum that he was the worst professional footballer I had seen for many a year. Got a lot of flack for it at the time. But I think he would have fitted in very nicely anywhere in the back four of the magnificent Kemp dream team

To be fair he was clearly a good player ten years ago, before he retired and then joined us

I almost liked him by the end. He was so bad, he was good. I'd like to think he realised he was years past his sell by date. In the 0-7 Wigan game, he was obviously terrified from the first minute. He was amusingly overweight as well. Sadly, not something you see enough of these days in lower league football.

Kemy Agustien was on the verge of signing for us when Pep was booted out. He would’ve pushed Tiendalli bloody hard on the ‘used to be good but is no longer anything resembling a professional footballer’ front. Mind you, Xemi had the edge on everybody in as much as he was equally as dire but had never been a pro in the first place. Also, the hell was Gino about? That debut goal against Pompey was sublime but after that he was just dreadful. Got a couple of tap ins but generally ran around like a headless chicken and couldn’t backheel a ball without pulling his hammy. And what about Mike Williamson? My god - by September he was already shot and just sort of disappeared. Was never officially released that I recall, just sort of sloped off after vanishing from the team one day. And Mehmeti! Agon Mehmeti! Jesus Christ on a bike - what the hell was he? Floats around obscure European lower leagues scoring basically no goals, is another one who seems to no longer be employed and then turns up here. I’ll always enjoy that I was there to see his tap in v Peterborough, but honestly... we had multiple players in and around that squad who would walk into any all time worst XI. Some of them weren’t footballers at all let alone terrible ones.

And to think, a lot of people at the time declared Pep’s sacking a huge mistake!

Pep seems to be signing a lot of foreign players at Birmingham.
To be fair Birmingham have started very well.
Was it his agent who came on here for months enjoying every Oxford defeat and saying how great Pep was?

Agree! No way should he appear on this list. He had decent all round skills at the level we were at, but a distinct lack of pace. His final playing days were at Telford and he became a local hero by scoring some vital goals from midfield. He's now their Assistant Manager.

Tbf on Mehmeti, he wasn't in obscure European lower leagues but rather he did play in Serie A, the Swedish, Norwegian and Turkish top-flights. However with that said, he was rubbish.
 
Seem to recall he played twice for Palermo before they found him out. It still counts, I suppose.
