Potential New Ground

I appreciate that someone like Colin has more credibility than I do, but I hope this post will alleviate the concerns that some have about the direction the club is going in. Although the transfer window may have been slower than many wanted, but it was clear that we have worked within a very competitive budget. The money from Gavin Whyte wasn't needed but will support the further development plans with the club. I genuinely believe we are at the beginning of a really exciting new chapter for our club, and the stadium could be the icing on the cake!

Ahh ice rink Oxpens, cheers ???

After what happened to Bury and nearly happened to Bolton, I'd be in favour of a ground called 'The People Stadium'. When we've gone, I'd like the government to approve fracking near the present site and a massive earthquake happening, destroying all the buildings owned by you-know-who. I can dream, can't I?

He would be over insured, so could only benefit more ?

this is where we climbed in quite a few times when young and skint:rolleyes:(y)View attachment 2104
I remember one of my first matches at the Manor, jumping over the Cuckoo Lane end wall and just peering over that little white wall between the two buildings to see Gordon Banks, I can't remember much of the game and I think I left at half time once I had seen the great man.

Mention in the Fan’s Forum tonight about the stadium plan taking about three years to come to fruition if things progress well. Hopefully an indication of ambition.
Who was on tte fans forum and was anything else interesting said?

think it was Zaki (spelling?).... not yet had time to have a listen myself (via Iplayer/catchup)

I’m sure the listen again will be up soon if not already but bits I gleaned were:

* That the mysterious new shareholder is just a different company name from the current owners (although he didn’t know for whom)
* That it was a conscious decision for him to get more involved with fronting up interviews as he both recognised the need and because he’s the only UK (London) based Board member.
* Some of the usual gubbins about merchandising when asked about the global brand of Oxford.
* That the current ground situation is not sustainable and that they would like to have a new solution sorted within a few years.
* That West Ham is about the only near sell out so that was why ST ticket prices are full price. He apologised that some won’t like it but hoped people would value the transparency.

That last point was indeed a positive and it was yet another good piece of PR. He’s in Spain today but confirmed he’ll be back in time for Fleetwood (as with all games) and that his wife is sick of hearing about it.

Basically, he was very good as usual.

God I hope something happens with the stadium otherwise we're stuck and very little chance of progressing.
usually try and stay positive about things but what happens if every possibility is explored and the board pull out (for any number of reasons). we'll be in the same situation, but even closer to the deadline of the lease running out, leaving very little time to explore other avenues

My biggest concern is if the owners buy the stadium own the stadium and we have another case of paying higher rent and have a even longer lease. I just hope there is a way that we own the stadium and maybe pay the owners off over a period of time rather than just paying rent

Thanks for sharing that was a good and encouraging listen. I know words are cheap but Zaki does come across very well. Now back to the sunbathing here in Turkey. COYY
