It’s not even “more money” though, is it..? It’s what they’re contractually entitled to, and no doubt what Wilder himself agreed to pay them.

Holmes himself is a prime example of what a short career it can be, and there is often no warning of enforced medical retirement. No way Holmes can be blamed for seeing out his contract if another one elsewhere isn’t guaranteed. No doubt about it, Wilder’s an A-grade A*****e.

I wonder how our fans would react if this happened here? Would the players be vilified for not leaving?

I would love to see Brannagan/Gorrin/Baptiste as 3 in the middle - removes the #10 however but could be a great option.

Hope we manage to get Baptiste into the team

Even when he is available, I envisage a slow re-integration into the team (a few sub appearances etc.) and, if the team is doing well, he may have to wait for his chance.

I agree, will be great once he’s fully match fit.

Eastwood
Cadden Dickie Moore Ruffels
Brannagan Gorrin Baptiste
Henry Taylor Fosu

That would be a great lineup and formation, we’d batter teams!

That’s obviously IF Taylor comes, if not, Agyei can take his place in that lineup.

There would still be strength in depth on the bench, and maybe more still to come before the window closes!

Exciting times!

I fully expect Ben Woodburn will be established in the team by the time Baptiste is fully fit although as KR has said rotation will happen.

I forgot about him!!

Jesus, we really are spoilt for choice!

We’ve got genuinely suitable players for either
4-2-3-1
4-3-3
Or even 4-4-2

I can’t remember the last we’ve had such a healthy squad, with genuine quality in depth, and more to come hopefully!

I’ve got high hopes for this season!

George Thorne would be the best player in League One is he stayed fit, but some on here are already showing impatience with Rob Hall trying to regain his fitness. Thornes in the same boat as Hall, he'll take a while to get back to match fitness/sharpness so strap yourselves in ? Probably be a similar situation to Peter Leven, absolutely superb to watch but rarely fit enough to show us. Big risk, pay as you play deal would surely be essential for us.

KR has been talking up Hanson and Mousinho can cover too - not sure where Thorne fits in? Also need to be cautious of not blocking pathways for Baptiste/Sykes etc.

If financially it’s a sensible deal I guess no harm in having extra quality ?‍♂️

Eastwood,
Cadden,
Dickie,
Moore,
Hanson,
Brannagan,
Gorin,
Fosu,
McCleary OR Woodburn
Taylor,
Adjei

Now that's a promotion winning side right there!! :) if only hey........we can dream

Hanson at left back? Ruffels would be a better option

Whilst there would be a risk with Thorne, it could pay off. If we get him on a pay-as-you-play deal and he proves his fitness, then he would be one of the best midfielders in the league no doubt about it. If he does then get games under his belt and he doesn't perform, then his deal won't cost much to cancel, but if he does produce the goods then Championship clubs might come circling with their £££s.

I'm surprised we're not in for an attack-minded left back, similar to Cadden. Ruffles is solid without being flamboyant, but another left back would push him for his place, and potentially allow Hanson to go out on loan as Ruffles can also cover the DCM role.

Not saying he will or should go, but managers do talk up players sometimes when they want to put them in the shop window.

Very true - just think it would be a poor move. I think he is a good addition, can cover a few positions (I also think he is pretty decent although I realise this isn’t popular opinion!)
