Respect

I think it was other staff members too based on one or two things that occurred last season. I believe one was Ian Mixter whose family have been threatened and abused online on more than one occasion.

Oh yes. Forgot about that.

It would be a real test of your character if you were hit by a bottle of water that had been drunk from. Would it feel better or worse to get hit by a bottle half full? Would optimism hurt more than pessimism?

Weren’t flares thrown by both a Pompey and a Cov fam at last years fixtures at the SOL, makes me wonder whether they’re planted in with the away support and then throw something get nicked but moved back in amongst the home support, then the Mackems start complaining of bad behaviour by the opposition fans.
Come off it Baz.

I would take a wild guess that based on the sentence said person may have previous.

Sunderland have restricted ticket availability to Portsmouth and Coventry fans for their visits to SoL this season, so, assuming we are in the same division next season, we can expect a similar punishment.

Harsh punishment imo.

Couple questions about this.

1) Wasn't it a pie? Those around me said they saw a pie get thrown but absolutely no one mentioned a bottle.
2) Was it a glass beer bottle or a plastic coke bottle? Kinda makes a difference if its a plastic coke bottle.

Nothing wrong with the respect statement from the club.

Does sound like some here think it's perfectly acceptable for people to throw things.Doesnt matter what is thrown pie or plastic bottle.
I have been injured and had stitches when I was hit by stones at Bristol City in the early seventies ,there were disgraceful scenes at some matches.

Let's not condone this behaviour

Mind I don't think many Pompey fans were going anyway after Sky changed kick off to 12:30 so it can be shown live.

...got to be sensible with choices at that age... he's just turned six.*

No no no, no! This is the 21st century. We must be protected against our stupid choices.

* I commend your good sense, Mr G.

Also, didn't this happen after Dickies goal got disallowed? So the fella probably threw it more in frustration rather than malicious intent.

Would certainly never condone such behaviour, but it is interesting how things have changed over the years. I remember in the 80s getting coins thrown our way, which was quite common.

Also remember seeing a lit cigarette being flicked in the LR (right side) and it landed in someone's coat pocket where it started to smolder.

I can remember coins getting thrown in the 90s. In the East Midlands it seemed to be standard tactics for the home supporters.

See the Oxford Utd muppet that through the bottle lives I'm High Wycombe.

An away supporter had thrown a plastic bottle from the top of the stand shortly after the visitors had scored in the first half. The bottle hit a Sunderland fan who was sat in the lower tier in the back of the neck.
An investigation was launched and Vinnie Eastman, 27, of Totteridge Road, High Wycombe, was arrested and later charged with throwing of a missile within a designated football match and common assault.
